After an hour, Cao Bing successfully persuaded the school leadership by demonstrating the strength of a Quasi-Warrior and completed the procedures to suspend his studies.
Cao Bing also left the school amid the envious and jealous gazes of his classmates.
"Damn, Old Cao just left like that? I'm so damn jealous!" the chubby Wei Wen said sourly. He had a fairly good relationship with Cao Bing and had even specifically said goodbye to him earlier.
"We still have the college entrance exams to take!"
"There's no use envying Brother Cao. We just need to work harder!" Luo Feng watched Cao Bing leave before turning to Wei Wen and speaking.
At the same time, he left himself a thought: Looks like I need to work harder too!
Meanwhile, after Cao Bing left the school, he did not go home. Instead, he headed straight for Limitless Martial Arts.
He was making plans for himself.
With his current abilities, he was already more than qualified to take the June Quasi-Warrior test.
Yet he still chose to delay it by a month.
On one hand, he wanted to improve his strength further and make absolutely sure of it.
On the other hand, it was because of opportunity. The reason Luo Feng had risen so quickly was partly due to his unparalleled talent, but also because he had repeatedly happened to catch the attention of high-ranking figures watching during several tests.
There might not necessarily be any tangible benefits, but catching the eye of those powerful higher-ups could sometimes be even more valuable than tangible rewards.
Otherwise, how could Luo Feng have entered the Elite Training Camp?
What use was talent alone if nobody knew about it? Who would recommend you to the Elite Training Camp?
So, when he had no idea how to draw the attention of certain higher-ups, following Luo Feng was the best decision.
After arriving at Limitless Martial Arts, Cao Bing had no time to bother with anything else and went straight up to the third floor.
Although Cao Bing's parents were Martial Artists, they were not wealthy enough to build a private training ground at home. Thus, Limitless Martial Arts was naturally where Cao Bing often trained.
"Oh, Little Cao, you're here!"
The moment he entered, someone greeted Cao Bing.
"Brother Yang, you're here so early?"
Yang Wu was a burly man over 190 centimeters tall, with a scarred face. He was also a Senior Student at Limitless Martial Arts, already in his twenties, and an acquaintance of Luo Feng's. Though he looked fierce, he was very warm toward others.
"Little Cao, aren't you supposed to be in school today?" Yang Wu set down the arm-strength trainer in his hands, walked over to Cao Bing, and asked.
"Brother Yang, I suspended my studies. I'm planning to take the Quasi-Warrior test this July!" Cao Bing said calmly.
As soon as Cao Bing said that, all the trainees on the third floor looked over, their expressions filled with surprise.
"Little Cao, you've made up your mind?" Yang Wu asked.
"Mm." Cao Bing answered firmly.
"I knew it! You should've done this long ago. You and Luo Feng—if you'd focused on martial arts, you might already be Martial Artists by now." Yang Wu laughed loudly.
"Get lost, get lost! Little Cao is still young. Don't lead him astray!" A female trainee shoved Yang Wu aside.
"Little Cao, don't forget your big sister after you become a Martial Artist."
"How could I? I could forget anyone but Fang Jie." Cao Bing hurriedly replied.
The female trainee before him was one of the few Senior Students in all of Limitless Martial Arts. She was usually completely uninhibited in the gym.
None of the many trainees dared to restrain her. After all, female Martial Artists were scarce in this world to begin with.
"Haha, then I'll remember that, Little Cao!" Fang Jie said with a laugh.
After dealing with a few more remarks, Cao Bing finally began his day of training.
Cultivation in Devouring Starry Sky was relatively crude, and in form it was similar to the external martial arts of Stellar Transformation World.
The difference was that Limitless Martial Arts had a great deal of equipment to assist with training.
Arriving before the punch-strength tester, Cao Bing gathered strength throughout his body, took a bow stance, and threw a punch.
"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"
"923 kg!" "925 kg!" "922 kg!"
He threw three punches in a row. Looking at the values displayed by the tester, Cao Bing nodded to himself. That's an improvement over before!
Cao Bing then went to the treadmill to test his speed.
"25.2 meters per second!"
"Qualified."
Cao Bing smiled inwardly and finally walked over to the neural reaction testing machine.
This was also the area he most needed to improve.
It was the main reason he had come today.
He needed to practice the Flying Shadow Steps.
By his estimation, if he could cultivate the Flying Shadow Steps to minor accomplishment, he should be able to reach the Micro-level in movement technique.
The machine activated, and a barrage of rubber bullets instantly shot from the muzzles. At the same time, Cao Bing's body began to move.
"Ding! Hit 54 times within 60 seconds. Touched the red line once." A cold electronic voice sounded from the machine.
"Still no improvement." Cao Bing shook his head. Such a result was only barely above the passing line. One slight mistake and he would be eliminated.
"I'm still not proficient enough with the Flying Shadow Steps. I need to focus on practicing it."
Having realized his shortcomings, how could Cao Bing possibly fail to make up for them?
He started the machine again, and his body moved at high speed.
But this time, Cao Bing needed to rely entirely on the Flying Shadow Steps to evade.
His results were actually worse than before.
From morning until evening, Cao Bing trained at Limitless Martial Arts. He even ate lunch there.
Fortunately, considering the training needs of Martial Artists, Limitless Martial Arts already had a dedicated cafeteria.
"After a full day of training, my experience cultivating the Flying Shadow Steps in Stellar Transformation World has completely fused with this body. As long as I take it a step further, the Quasi-Warrior assessment will be a sure thing!"
That night, Cao Bing returned to his room.
Cao Bing's parents had once merely been independent Martial Artists. They had not joined forces such as Limitless Martial Arts, and they possessed only the strength of Intermediate Warriors.
Therefore, his family did not live in a detached villa like those at Limitless Martial Arts.
They only had a high-end residence allocated by the government.
Of course, it was not small. The house was soundproofed and reinforced, precisely because of the immense destructive power Martial Artists could produce while training.
"I still haven't tested whether the Yanhuo Jue can be cultivated. I tried the Tongtian Diagram before, but somehow forgot to try this!"
Cao Bing laughed bitterly.
The Tongtian Diagram had produced no results when he tried cultivating it before, and in his disappointment, he had not continued with the Yanhuo Jue either.
Now that he thought of it, he still had to give it a try. As he had said, what if it worked? There was no downside!
Cao Bing's home was quite large, and with him living there alone, it felt particularly deserted.
Fortunately, Cao Bing had already grown used to this loneliness.
The Yanhuo Jue was a fire-attribute cultivation method, and its internal energy was blazing hot.
Cao Bing sat cross-legged at the head of his bed and began circulating the technique according to the Yanhuo Jue.
After holding his breath and focusing his mind for quite some time, he finally sensed a faint trace of energy stirring within his body.
Before he could rejoice, Cao Bing quickly composed himself and continued driving that weak trace of energy.
A full hour passed before that trace of energy finally made one stumbling circuit through Cao Bing's meridians and returned to his dantian to be nurtured.
"Hahaha!"
He was ecstatic!
"I can't believe it actually worked!"
He had thought it would be like the Tongtian Diagram, utterly unresponsive.
Yet internal energy had actually formed.
Cao Bing stared ahead, a glint of brilliance flashing in his eyes.
"Today, I shall rise!"
