Inside the Book Pavilion.

Medusa and Long Xiao were still whispering sweet nothings to each other.

Soon, a furious voice rang out from beyond the door.

"You brat named Long Xiao! Get out here!"

Medusa raised her slender brows slightly, displeasure stirring within her. Hearing that voice, she had a pretty good idea of what was going on.

"Let's go take a look."

Long Xiao had also sensed what was happening outside. This was bound to happen sooner or later, so he took Medusa by the hand and walked out of the Book Pavilion with her.

The moment they stepped through the doors, they found countless male Snake-People surrounding Long Xiao, each glaring at him as though they wanted to tear him apart.

She barked coldly, "Mo Bass! As commanders of the tribe, you actually brought people here to cause trouble. What punishment do you deserve?"

"Your Majesty, we're doing this for the tribe too. How could you let a human brat deceive you?" Mo Bass hurriedly lowered his head and offered his explanation.

Queen Medusa was not only their queen, but also the goddess in their hearts. How could they let a human brat deceive their goddess?

Besides, with Long Xiao's scrawny build, how could he possibly satisfy Her Majesty?

"Exactly, Your Majesty. Let us teach this human a lesson for you!" Another commander, Yan Ci, hastily spoke up as well.

"How do you know I can't unless you try? You can ask Her Majesty whether I've got what it takes," Long Xiao said casually.

"Fine! You've got some guts. Tonight, I'll show you that you're not worthy!" Mo Bass knew that with the queen protecting Long Xiao, he had no chance to act. Since Long Xiao had proposed a challenge himself, he would oblige him.

Long Xiao shrugged, looking as though he could do whatever he pleased. Why hadn't he simply cowed them outright? Because he kept feeling that somewhere in the tribe, a pair of eyes was watching him with ill intent. Yet he could not find the source of that strange feeling. Perhaps he could feign weakness first, then see what was going on.

With that, everyone returned to prepare for tonight's match, intending to hack Long Xiao into eight pieces.

Medusa sighed. This was fine too. Long Xiao earning their recognition himself would be more effective than her orders. If he wanted to be her man, he would have to gain her people's approval as well.

"With your strength, wouldn't dealing with them be easy?"

"Long Xiao, please behave yourself."

Medusa was not quite used to Long Xiao's childish behavior and could not help reminding him.

Long Xiao opened his eyes, glanced at Medusa, and sat up. He patted the spot beside him, motioning for her to sit down.

Still, she reluctantly sat down.
