By Sunday evening, when the class held its regular meeting, reports on the conflict between the Linzhong Lakefront merfolk and the Patrol Team the previous night had begun appearing in an endless stream.
Numerous media outlets, including but not limited to the university paper and the Beta Town Post, interviewed those involved on both sides and analyzed and reported on the matter from every possible angle.
As usual, the various media outlets took vastly different stances in their coverage.
First University's university paper consistently stood from the school's perspective, relying on the Patrol Team's account and extensively publishing the views of Jiuyou Academy Student Union's spokesperson on the matter.
The spokesperson stated that they "strongly condemned and solemnly warned against the merfolk smearing excrement on the sacred Book Mountain Hall," and that "the academy reserved the right to pursue the relevant merfolk's legal liability." In addition, "the relevant authorities of the university had taken note of the Merfolk Tribe's cross-academy activities and advised them to watch their words and conduct." Privately, the spokesperson said that they were "deeply puzzled that the Merfolk Tribe, while residing at Jiuyou Academy, had gone to Alpha Castle to file its complaint."
In contrast, the Merfolk Tribe of Linzhong Lake invited reporters from the Beta Town Post to hear its explanation.
At the press conference, an elder of the Merfolk Tribe firmly denied Jiuyou Academy's accusations. He said that the merfolk in the lake had faithfully observed their agreement with the wizards, and that someone else had smeared excrement outside Book Mountain Hall. On the contrary, the elder was exceptionally enraged by the brutal suppression of young merfolk from the tribe by Jiuyou Academy's Patrol Team.
"This is a grave challenge to merfolk rights and a serious regression from the Linzhong Lake Merfolk Reserve Act!"
