First University developed from Jiuyou Academy. It originally consisted of specialized departments such as Arcane Arts, Potions, and Alchemy; roughly three hundred years before Zheng Qing's enrollment, the Joint Council of Professors united several leading wizarding academies into the modern university. Its precise founding date remains disputed: some trace it to ancient Jiuyou Academy, while others date it to the later unification 9.

The institution was established to mitigate conflicts between major wizarding powers. Its expansion brought greater influence but also preserved rivalries among its constituent academies, whose differing ideals remain a defining feature of campus life 10.
