At her words, Friedman's body suddenly stiffened. He could not help associating the witch's words with his own experiences. Yet rather than feeling enlightened, her excessive bluntness made him feel as though he had been stripped naked and thrown before a crowd, leaving him humiliated and furious.
Noticing the unstable fluctuations in Lucifer's aura, a wizard wearing a Fox Mask hurriedly changed the subject. "The Fallen Angel was merely rebutting out of habit. He did not mean to offend anyone..."
The attempt at smoothing things over was so clumsy that even Friedman could not help giving Mammon in the Fox Mask a careful look, trying to determine whether that remark had been intended to stir up trouble or had simply been a slip of the tongue.
Mammon clearly realized at once that there had been something inappropriate in his words. He coughed dryly and emphasized, "Everyone, do not waste time on such trivial matters... Time is precious. Let's talk about something important."
"For example, what we're having for lunch today." The fat man in the Pig Face Mask chuckled as he picked up a piece of matcha cake from his plate and stuffed it into his mouth.
Friedman shot Beelzebub a disgusted look.
