The two witches and a black cat stood in a row at the entrance to the Mystic Realm's Small World, silently watching the strange phenomenon in the sky.
When the sun and moon had originally hung in the sky together, the moon had already been far larger and brighter than the "sun." Today, it was even more so. The previously somewhat illusory moonlight had become more solid; the moon phase, once the size of a jade plate, had swollen like an inflated balloon until it was as large as a wagon wheel.
After staring at it for only a short while, both the black cat and the witches felt mentally hollow, their thoughts blank. For one instant, the black cat wanted to do nothing at all. The enormous moon was the only thing in its mind.
"I feel like I can see the Jade Rabbit on the moon," the black cat said, craning its neck to stare at the shadows on its surface, its voice sounding somewhat vacant. "Look at that dark patch. Doesn't it look like a rabbit pounding medicine?"
"A rabbit? No, I think it looks like a toad." The Gypsy witch clearly disagreed with the black cat and immediately refuted it. She was in slightly better condition than the cat, and there was still some emotion in her voice.
