Just as the desert could not escape dryness, and the rainforest could not escape dampness, the one thing Black Prison could never escape was the pervasive chill.
Even within Black Prison Castle.
Separated by heavy stone walls, layers of exquisitely carved Runes, and powerful magical barriers, that chill still clung stubbornly to every wizard who appeared in this world.
A draft blew through the corridor, and the chill within it was especially thick.
A gust of cold wind swept past, and Mai Dong shivered awake.
She muttered softly. On one side was the captain's broad, warm chest; on the other, it was as cold as being left out in ice and snow. Even through her heavy cloak, that chill still managed to seep in.
Little Witch could no longer keep sleeping.
She poked her head out from the captain's cloak and glanced outside.
"Where are we?" she asked drowsily.
"Almost there, almost there. Sleep a little longer." Zhang Boren patted her head reassuringly, indicating that she could rest a while longer. But Little Witch did not tuck her head back beneath the cloak as he requested. Instead, she blinked her large eyes and stared at the graying hair of the black-robed wizard leading the way.
"Zhang Yu?" she greeted cheerfully.
The wizard responsible for guiding them turned around, a gentle smile appearing in his eyes.
"Mai Dong." He nodded and said softly, "Professor Li Qihuang is in the lounge ahead... He just brewed a batch of high-quality restorative potions today. You'll regain your strength soon."
Little Witch, Mai Dong, blinked indifferently. Her gaze slid away from the guiding wizard as she looked around. "So this is Black Prison? It feels about the same as the Ishikawa family's basement..."
The young Swordsman, who had remained silent the entire time, finally spoke.
