"Maodou?"
A surprised voice rang out in the study room.
Zheng Qing looked at the gray dog squatting by his feet, having arrived uninvited, and was slightly surprised.
Maodou stood there empty-handed, with none of the shed snakeskin or demon corpses the young wizard had expected.
Hearing the wizard call out, the dog froze for several seconds before realizing Zheng Qing was calling it. It immediately wagged its tail. Only then did Zheng Qing remember that when he and his roommates had named the dog, it had been out hunting that Faceless Snake and hadn't been present.
"From now on, your name is Maodou. Got it?"
The dog stuck out its tongue and nodded happily.
Satisfied, Zheng Qing crouched down and began introducing Maodou to his companions. "That ******, the short one with the Watermelon Head, is Doctor; that tall, chubby guy holding a Quill Pen and always eating is Fatty; and that skinny, tall one with the ponytail is Nicholas... Don't provoke the Little Witch who's sleeping. She'll yank your tail. But the Plush Bear she's using as a pillow is a pretty good toy. You can catch it and use it as a sparring partner later."
The Plush Bear angrily waved its paws in protest at the wizard's discriminatory and misleading remarks.
Each time Zheng Qing introduced someone, the dog nodded earnestly, looking exactly like an elementary school student in class.
"Good thing Li Meng is asleep, or she'd definitely fight you to the death." Fatty stuffed pastries into his mouth, his words slightly muffled. "Also, Maodou, that Plush Bear isn't your toy... If you break it, your owner can't afford to compensate for it."
