At the far eastern edge of Black Prison World lay a bottomless black abyss. Fierce winds ravaged it year-round, sinister energies filled the air, and no life stirred. Occasionally, a jet or two of magma would shoot into the sky, only to die out moments later.

Word passed among the prisoners that this abyss was the domain of a powerful demon. Unlike Elilose or Sujade, however, this being never gathered followers or staked out territory, always remaining aloof from worldly affairs. Some bold prisoners approached the abyss to offer their allegiance, but it paid them no heed, leaving them to struggle in vain and exhaust their lives beyond the fierce winds and sinister energies.

The jailers who managed Black Prison never came to inspect the area around the abyss, either.

Gradually, the region grew ever more desolate.

One rumor claimed that the demon at the bottom of the abyss had once been an important figure at First University. An experimental accident had caused its fall, and Principal Nameless had personally cast it into Black Prison and placed a powerful seal upon it. As long as Black Prison remained intact, the seal could not be broken. Thus, the demon inside could not escape, and the jailers outside had no need to trouble themselves guarding it.

Another rumor claimed that beneath the abyss lay a laboratory established by First University, which used Black Prison's inmates as experimental materials for all manner of evil experiments that violated wizarding ethics. To avoid attracting attention, it remained extremely guarded and closed off. And precisely because First University had established it, the jailers never worried about trouble arising there.
