Battle formations were a common organizational form used by hunting teams during hunts, evolved from the magic circles of Ancient Wizards.

Through fixed movements, hand seals, magical implements, incantations, and rituals, the wizards of a hunting team or hunting party linked their Magic Power together, constructing a "perfect magical domain" belonging to wizards within a small space. Wizards also called it a "formation."

Within the shell, the "perfect magical domain" granted hunters enormous enhancements. It could withstand greater magical circuits and strengthen the power of spells cast by wizards within the domain—using a Summoning Spell, for instance, could summon more Magical Creatures; escape arts could cover greater distances at faster speeds; injuries suffered by wizards could heal more easily; Magic Power recovered more quickly; and so on. At the same time, the "perfect magical domain" could also block the harm inflicted by many basic curses upon hunters within its range.

Of course, different battle formations produced different effects because of differences in how they were constructed.
