"Shub-Niggurath!"
"The Black Goat of the Woods that bore ten thousand offspring!"
"Mother Goddess of Dark Harvest!"
"Nikolas!!"
A low droning echoed above the entire crater, mingled with hisses and roars, like the murmurs of the sick and the prayers of believers filled with faith.
Every wizard who heard those voices immediately pictured a colossal, pitch-black figure in their mind. Like roiling, festering clouds beneath the night sky, countless slick black tentacles dangled from it. Fanged mouths opened and closed, spewing foul, rotten breath.
Even though it was merely imagined, they could clearly smell that breath. It arose from deep within the recipients' consciousness and surged out through their noses and throats.
Many wizards—including demons—failed to identify the source of the contamination at first. Upon hearing those droning prayers, they swiftly descended into madness.
Their eyes lost focus, their pupils dilated, and they began praying along with the droning whispers. As they prayed, long, thin fleshy protrusions grew from their faces and bodies, like worms writhing beneath their skin. Neither physical nor magical attacks could halt the mutation; instead, they accelerated its evolution.
In only a short time, several "low-end versions" of Black Goat Cubs appeared on the battlefield.
Some had been wizards, while others had mutated from demons.
"A bunch of bastards."
Misty Captain stared at the two enormous craters on the ground and cursed under its breath, though it was unclear whether it was cursing those Starry Sky spawn or someone else.
Its expression darkened further when it saw that many crew members of the Misty had also been affected by the two Black Goat Cubs and begun mutating.
"You never said beforehand that you had invited entities from the depths of the Starry Sky."
The giant eye floating in midair shifted slightly farther away from
