Inside the warm little house, the family of three savored their last warmth.
Outside the house, the gray dragon rolling among the clouds had vanished. Night Veil descended like a Dark Giant Beast opening its jaws and swallowing the little house whole.
On the battlefield, beside the ruins of the collapsed prison cells.
After a long silence, Migo spread the enormous beetle-shell wings behind it and raised its head. Colors shifted rapidly across the swirling tumor on its forehead before gradually settling into a simple smiling face.
The Little Witch in its segmented limbs stared blankly into the distance, a blissful smile still on her face.
The Big Rat standing nearby took a deep breath. As its tail swayed, it dragged the silent skeleton that had been following close at its side even nearer.
"What an astonishing masterpiece."
The Rat Immortal raised an arm, its fingertips gliding inch by inch over the jade-like bones. It sighed deeply. "What a... terrible pity."
The skeleton obediently lowered its head, allowing the Rat Immortal's withered claw to rest on its shoulder and creep up its spine bit by bit before finally settling on the red gemstone embedded in its forehead.
An uneasy gleam flickered in the skeleton's empty eye sockets, an instinctive warning of danger from its Soul Fire.
"I will compensate you."
The Rat Immortal looked seriously into those hollow eye sockets and made its promise. But Giant Zero Three was not a living creature with complete intelligence. It was merely a puppet created by wizards, one with formidable combat power, and so it could not answer the Rat Immortal's promise.
Boom!
From afar came the violent explosions of colliding spells, rising and falling without end.
