To many ordinary wizards, fortune was an abstract and impoverished concept.
It was the mist swirling within a diviner's Crystal Ball, the varying shades on a tortoise shell scorched by flame, and the joy of opening Pandora's Cursed Box bought from Apple Pavilion to find a ruby within.
Empty, yet undeniably real.
But to Grand Diviners, fortune was far from so intangible.
In the eyes of Grand Diviners, the entire world was outlined by strands of varying thicknesses and colors. Every stone, every tree, every person was linked to those strands.
Some strands were long, some short. They clung and intertwined, gathering together to form a surging, flowing river amid a dark void—one with neither beginning nor end. This was the River of Destiny.
Ordinary wizards were bound by those fine threads and could only drift with the current; Archwizards, having forged their true forms, possessed thicker, more isolated, and longer threads. Among them, Grand Diviners were a relatively unusual group.
Compared with ordinary Archwizards, their combat abilities were somewhat weaker, but their vision was broader. If ordinary Archwizards were swimming fish in the River of Destiny, then Grand Diviners were birds flying above it. Though their ankles were still bound by fine threads extending from the river, leaving them unable to break free, their gaze rested above the current, allowing them to see its rises and falls, its shoals and whirlpools, even its forks and tributaries.
Those rises and falls were the fortune observed by Grand Diviners.
