The yellow-and-white cat tail, like a furry golden ringed snake, crawled out through the crack in the door. It wound its way forward, stretching toward the two Rat People curled up at D&K's entrance, wrapping around their waists before giving a tug.
The two Rat People abruptly vanished into thin air.
The Two-headed Ogre, who had been eagerly rushing over from the far end of the Pedestrian Street while dragging a wooden club, froze on the spot. He raised a hand and scratched the smaller head on his left shoulder. Then the large mouth on the head to his right opened wide and let out a roar in every direction. Raising his club, he smashed it heavily onto the tattered vests the two Rat People had left behind.
Azure gravel flew everywhere, splattering against the glass windows of the roadside shops with a series of crisp crackles. No invisible prey was hiding nearby.
After taking two final sniffs, the Two-headed Ogre grumbled in complaint, dragged his club behind him, and turned away dejectedly.
Thud!
The cat tail yanked the two Rat People out of the air, dropping them onto the soft floor of Sanyou Bookstore with a muffled sound. Perhaps because the transformation process had been too painful, they remained unconscious. The tiny Green Vests they had been wearing had long since been ripped apart by their expanded bodies, leaving only a few strips hanging over their hairless forms, making them look even more gaunt.
Yellow Flower Cat curled its lip and hooked over a thin blanket with a claw, covering the two Rat People.
It noticed that these Rat People had not completely transformed into humans. Each still retained a long, thin rat tail behind them, completely hairless, flesh-red with a faint bluish tint. They trembled in the cold
