The Wizard Alliance Investigation Bureau, abbreviated as the Wizard Alliance Bureau, is the law enforcement department directly under the Wizard Council. Because its emblem features three crossed greatswords, it is also called the Trident Sword by wizards.
As one of the three major constituent bodies of the Wizard Alliance, the Wizard Council grants many preferential treatments to its subordinate, the Trident Sword.
For instance, unlike general local public security bureaus and police departments, Trident Sword commissioners possess worldwide law enforcement authority and have immunity for the use of many high-risk spells.
For example, every year the Investigation Bureau has priority in selection, allowing them to communicate with outstanding talents from the First University's graduating class in advance to strengthen their team.
Furthermore, they can disregard the significant losses incurred at Daming Market and openly discuss the aftermath with Thomas.
Perhaps the Daming Market Management Committee was well aware of this. To avoid awkwardness, none of the management committee staff appeared until these black-robed commissioners had left.
"Alright, Andrew, we should be going," the tall wizard put away his spellbook and said goodbye in a deep voice. "It was a pleasure seeing you, Thomas."
Thomas gave a slight bow.
The last, thin and tall black-robed wizard flipped through his spellbook. Dazzling runes shot out from the spellbook with the twist of his wrist, burrowing into the ground.
Andrew did not leave immediately.
He conferred with his two colleagues for a moment, then walked back to Thomas, holding a manila envelope.
A puffing sound, like air escaping a balloon, was heard. Zheng Qing looked in the direction of the sound and saw several thick vines coiling around the pig demon, slowly sinking into the ground. The tall wizard and the thin, tall wizard waved goodbye to them, transforming into specks of starlight and disappearing down the street.
"No need to look, they've already gone back to report to the bureau," Andrew said to Zheng Qing with a grin, handing him the manila envelope.
Zheng Qing licked his lips.
Dry, with a hint of bitterness, like almonds just shelled.
Whether it was Thomas's "Teleportation" to bring him to this Four Seasons Market, or the lightning spell "Yin Qi Lei" Thomas had previously cast, or the vines summoned by the Trident Sword, or those figures that turned into specks of starlight.
Magic, on this day, had left a profound impression on him in a very intense way.
"Why haven't you left?" Thomas stared warily at the manila envelope, not taking it, and said very seriously, "I need to remind you, I am on official business for the First University, and my time is very valuable."
"I just wanted to ask you, which team are you betting on this season?" Andrew's mouth twitched exaggeratedly, his round, baby face filled with sincerity. "To be safe, I bet on the Golden Star Team, though the odds are a bit low."
"How could a hunting team with such a high ranking and stable condition have high odds?" Thomas relaxed his guard, his expression becoming more at ease. "I bet on the Flamingo. Their new captain, Doflamingo, is a very good support hunter. Professor Yi Jiazi even praised him to me recently, saying Doflamingo always excelled in his divination class."
Zheng Qing rubbed his spellbook on the side.
He recalled Thomas mentioning these terms during their previous conversation at the tea house.
He still didn't understand them now, but he vaguely guessed they were discussing wizard sports events.
"It's better to be at school; at least there's someone to talk about the World Cup," Andrew said, holding the manila envelope and shaking his head. "Unlike at the bureau, everyone's been busy lately, and I can't find anyone to discuss hunting matches with."
"Everyone's busy? Have they all gone to the Dark Blue Castle?" Thomas revealed a hint of a sneer. "Ever since he became the director of the Wizard Alliance Bureau, the petty actions against the Under the Moon Council have been increasing."
Zheng Qing had heard of the Under the Moon Council.
Thomas had once told him that the Wizard Alliance was the government of the wizarding world, and the Under the Moon Council, along with the First University and the Wizard Council, were the three institutions subordinate to the Wizard Alliance.
But why was the Wizard Alliance Bureau targeting the Under the Moon Council?
Zheng Qing was listening somewhat confusedly.
"You saw that news too?" Andrew gave a wry smile. "He's Principal Shi's direct disciple, so he naturally inherited Principal Shi's style of hating darkness. If his stance wasn't so firm, he wouldn't be in that position as a registered wizard. The Dark Blue Castle incident is probably just the beginning."
Zheng Qing had some impression of the Dark Blue Castle.
During their previous conversation at the tea house, he remembered Thomas's newspaper mentioning this place, which seemed to have been searched by the court for illegal experiments.
As for the other terms they were discussing, Zheng Qing was completely clueless.
He turned his head and listlessly looked at the ancient locust tree next to him.
A furry little head poked out from between the branches of the locust tree.
It was a Treant Sapling.
He had originally thought these little sprites living in trees were naturally timid and would hide in their tree hollows for a long time after the previous thunderstorm. He didn't expect these little guys to show up as soon as the Wild Demon was dragged away by the Trident Sword people.
Zheng Qing rummaged through his gray bag for some hamster food, placed it in his palm, and made "tsk tsk" sounds with his mouth, teasing these little sprites.
Andrew glanced at him, approached Thomas, and lowered his voice, saying, "But you guessed one thing wrong. The bureau didn't invest too much power in the Dark Blue Castle. This is probably just a warning search. The higher-ups are troubled by other issues now."
"Other issues?"
Andrew looked around, then said mysteriously, "There was some commotion in the Silent Forest yesterday, and a newly transformed little demon took the opportunity to escape. The bureau is searching everywhere, so manpower is a bit tight."
"Commotion?" Thomas's expression turned serious.
"That old guy deep in the forest is causing trouble again," Andrew glanced at Zheng Qing again and explained cryptically.
Thomas nodded thoughtfully. "I was very curious just now. Is it really necessary for the Wizard Alliance Bureau's rapid response team to be dispatched for just one Wild Demon?"
"Is it really necessary to use a lightning spell for just one Wild Demon?" Andrew returned his words to him. "The school's teaching assistants have all been assigned search missions, and you'll definitely receive this mission when you get back. Instead of wasting a month in the Silent Forest, why not help us with a simple investigation?"
Saying that, he handed the manila envelope back to Thomas.
Thomas pondered, not immediately refusing.
"There's still an opening in the Void Chamber direction, go and investigate. The bureau will send a notification to the school, and your interview report can be submitted later. When I get back to the bureau, I'll submit the report for the use of the lightning spell at Four Seasons Market, it's guaranteed!" Andrew seized the opportunity, patting his chest as he guaranteed.
"Those guys have really been making a lot of moves lately," Thomas nodded, taking the manila envelope. "I have a feeling they know something."
"Do you know something?" Andrew raised an eyebrow and looked at Zheng Qing with a smile.
Zheng Qing, who was teasing the Treant Sapling, stiffened. He roared inwardly:
What does it have to do with me whether they know something or not!
Why do they keep looking at me!
