Zheng Qing was not a pessimist.
He had never believed that the world contained only bad people and even worse people. But the voices coming from behind the bookshelf suddenly made him doubt his own convictions.
The raven head atop the bookshelf tilted slightly, seeming to urge the wizard, who had suddenly fallen silent.
Zheng Qing took a light breath and laboriously climbed out of the Coffin. Having lost his magic, his limbs were weak, and he could not muster any strength at all.
It seemed that tea not only induced sleep and suppressed magic, but also left one limp and weak.
I wonder whether it can dissolve the body's innate defenses as well. The thought flashed through his mind.
After walking around the bookshelf, Zheng Qing felt his view suddenly open up.
Before him was a spacious laboratory. Several spotless experiment tables stood in neat rows; some were empty, some held test subjects covered in tubes, and some subjects were enclosed in glass cases, their surfaces crawling with dense, unsettling feelers.
Glass jars of varying heights lined the walls, filled with grotesque Magical Creatures. The walls were plain and windowless, while shadowless lamps hung from the ceiling above every experiment table.
Yet in this enormous laboratory, there was only one person.
Thomas wore a white robe and stood before an empty experiment table, arranging the instruments around it. He connected hoses of varying thicknesses to the equipment while hanging soft bags resembling saline solution from the rack.
Zheng Qing noticed an area enclosed by white curtains behind Thomas. Judging by the curtains' size, there was probably another experiment table inside.
Hearing the boy's soft, unsteady footsteps,
the laboratory's owner gave an order without looking up. "Come over and help... Wipe down the table. An Ogre was lying on it
