Neither the old almanac nor the school's Astrology Observatory had forecast any astronomical danger. So when the solar eclipse appeared, all of Puji Island was thrown into chaos.
No one knew why the sun, which had been sitting perfectly well in the sky just a minute earlier, suddenly vanished from directly overhead, as though a huge black mouth had slurped it straight into its belly.
It was not a natural phenomenon.
If it was not nature, then it could only be man-made disaster.
A temporary ban jointly signed by First University's two Vice Principals and Four Deans swiftly spread across Puji Island. Shops closed, streets were cleared, and First University provided emergency shelters for all island residents. Following the Black Prison unrest a year ago, the School Guardian Formation was once again activated at full power, doing everything possible to prevent major casualties or losses on the island. All students were ordered to remain in their dormitories and strictly forbidden from going out. Only certain elite students who had received notice were permitted to assist the Teaching Assistant Group with patrols, and even they could only move in groups within the formation's protected perimeter.
The usually bustling Puji Island fell into dead silence in a matter of moments.
Only wizards of Archwizard rank were permitted to move freely across the island.
The offices of the School Labor Committee and Professor Joint Conference were in utter chaos. The Divination Group, usually held in high regard, received more blame today than it had accumulated in a century.
Yet they had nothing to say in their defense.
Tortoise shells burst apart under scorching heat. The yarrow thrown onto the table lay in a messy
