"—Not sure."
Zheng Qing did not turn around. His gaze remained fixed on the "pellets" outside the window, as though he could devour them just by staring. "My guess is that they're some kind of high-dimensional life form. Perhaps before that Big Octopus crossed the boundary, it was one of these rolling pellets."
"You mean, outside is the other side of the Dimension Line Gap?"
The cat's gaze sharpened, its amber pupils narrowing slightly as it carefully studied the endless "forest of vital currents" outside. Its tone held some hesitation. "Though I look like a cat, I'm still a legendary cat. I've seen plenty of the world with the old man... High-Dimensional Worlds don't look like this!"
"Do you know the story of the blind men and the elephant?"
Zheng Qing answered patiently, "One man felt the elephant's leg and said an elephant was a pillar; another felt its body and said it was a wall... It's the same when lower dimensions look upon higher ones. The high-dimensional scenery we see may be different every time."
"But aren't we already High-Dimensional Beings?" The cat glanced at Zheng Qing.
Zheng Qing's eyes still did not leave the window. He let out a small sigh. "A complete Zheng Qing or Mister Huang is indeed a High-Dimensional Being... But we're only a single thought of theirs... Like a patch of light and shadow 'filmed' into a screen by a camera, we can only see the world inside the screen. Our field of vision is only two-dimensional as well."
"Even so."
The cat pressed its nose against the glass, its voice muffled. "It's understandable that I can't see clearly, but you're the owner of the Three Have Bookstore... Doesn't this bookstore have some kind of enhancement that can temporarily give you a higher perspective?"
