"So what you mean is, you bought the rune gun yourself?" Ms. Pulitzer pressed.
Zheng Qing glanced at the little paifang and finally answered stiffly, "A friend gave it to me."
"Dean Yao?" Ms. Pulitzer eagerly named someone who surprised Zheng Qing.
"Dean Yao? No, it wasn't him." Zheng Qing raised his eyebrows and denied it. "The dean is my professor. My rune gun was a gift from another friend... but it involves my friend's private information, so I can't reveal her name."
The bell on the table did not react at all.
Ms. Pulitzer seemed somewhat disappointed and continued, "Regarding last year's Academy Cup Freshman Competition, there have been reports that the You Zui Hunting Team—your hunting team is called that, right?—cheated in the hunting grounds and summoned spirit beasts beyond the permitted limit. "So this matter had nothing to do with the school's 'Relevant Department,' correct?" Ms. Pulitzer suddenly asked.
Zheng Qing drew a quiet breath.

She truly dared to ask anything and investigate anything—in First University, asking about the Relevant Department was like asking about the progress of the Type 094 or Type 002 at the Dalian Shipyard. Someone would come check your water meter.
"My performance in the hunting grounds had nothing to do with the Relevant Department," he finally answered.
The bell hanging from the little paifang swayed faintly without making a sound.
Ms. Pulitzer frowned, clearly dissatisfied with Zheng Qing's answer.
"Then how would you assess Dean Yao's actions during the Freshman Competition?"
"Serious and responsible."
"If I remember correctly, Dean Yao himself was the advisor for Astronomy 08-1, right?
