"Sorry, but since a newcomer wants to join the club, Big Sister Colmar is conducting an evaluation. You may need to wait a few minutes." The girl leading the way brought the three young wizards up to the second floor and explained as they stood in the foyer.
The foyer was small and square. Straight ahead stood a tall wooden door inset with two panes of stained glass, without the Door Gods portraits Zheng Qing often saw. On the left was a wooden wall, with a row of flowerpots in the corner containing clusters of blooming white Shore Flowers. To the right, a narrow corridor stretched away. No lights had been installed there, but several doorplates could be vaguely seen hanging in midair, much like the layout of the school's Office Building.
The girl gently pulled open the wooden door ahead and gestured for the young wizards to enter.
Beyond the door was a fairly spacious hall, complete with a small stage, bar counter, tables, and chairs. It looked more like a bar that had closed for the night than a club.
The stage curtain was half-drawn, and with no lights on, the stage was a patch of darkness.
Below the stage, a piano stood in the middle of the open space. More than a dozen figures in gray robes were loosely gathered around it, and a soft, intermittent piano melody drifted from the crowd.
The room was dimly lit, and the only cluster of Firefly Beetles had gathered above the piano, making the young wizards who had just come in from outside rather uncomfortable.
"Would you like something to drink?" The girl led the young wizards to the bar and looked at them eagerly.
Xing Fatty gave a quiet cough. "Um, do you have Amber Light?"
"Just a moment!"
