Giant Kun returned beneath the light and flicked its tail happily.
Here, light and darkness were divided, as though by an invisible waterline. Above it lay a world of white light; below it lay a calm, sheltered harbor.
With this arrangement, Ren Tao had escaped certain death, and Giant Kun had evaded the world consciousness's perception.
"Good thing I kept my cool and came out a step later. If we'd switched places, I'd be the one destroyed now!"

Ren Tao listened, but it took him a long while to process those words.
Everything that had just happened had been far too chaotic.
The order of time and space had been scrambled, jumping to the Dragon God one moment, back to the tribulation lightning the next, then finally into the real world.
It felt like a film stitched together through "montage."
The problem was that it had been too real. For a little while, he had believed he had truly traveled back to the real world, and his heart had swelled with unbearable joy. Then he had worried that the world consciousness would destroy the real world...
His emotions had risen and plunged like a roller coaster.
Only after a long while did he collect himself and say to Giant Kun,
"You mean if you'd come out first, the world consciousness could have destroyed you?"
"Isn't that obvious? Here, it's an omnipotent existence. Scrambling time and space, gathering even greater destructive power... it can do all of that. The fact that it appeared meant it was determined to succeed. It didn't want anyone obtaining the inherited memories in that drop of dragon blood!"
Giant Kun explained as it devoured the light between heaven and earth.
It had no other playmates anyway, so it was especially patient with Ren Tao.
