The tavern owner glanced at Ren Tao and Hu Liena, then returned the polished wineglass to its rack.

He shook his head and picked up another glass. "A lot of the travelers passing through here are merchants from the three great empires. Their noses are sharper than anyone's!"

Hu Liena found this rather strange. They had only been away for a dozen days or so, and even just before their departure, the Spirit Hall Empire's spies had sent back no relevant intelligence. Had something changed in these past few days?
She wanted to ask more, but Ren Tao stopped her with a look and said mildly:
"Another keg of ale, sir. If you don't mind, care to join us for a drink?"

A smile appeared on the owner's face. He tossed his towel onto the rack, carried the beer over himself, and plopped down beside Ren Tao.
