After hearing Brad introduce himself, the other members of the team became interested in the era he came from.
"You lived through World War II?"
Dark Doctor Strange stared with his dark-ringed eyes, stroking his chin with one hand as though considering something.
Captain Britain, Peggy, had the strongest reaction, because she came from the same era as Brad.
"In your world, the one who became a Super Soldier..."
Peggy trailed off.
"It was Steve."
Brad knew what this Peggy wanted to ask.
"I knew both of you. We weren't exactly friends, but Steve helped me out when I was young. Later, I ended up working under you."
"You joined British intelligence?" This Peggy looked a little dazed.
"Uh, no. I was a researcher. I never got involved in all that fighting and killing."
Brad's matter-of-fact tone made Party Thor want to squeeze his shoulders again.
"Brother, with a build like that, you belong on the battlefield."
Brad nimbly stepped back. Thwarted, Party Thor spoke with some reluctance.
"All right, all right. That's enough reminiscing. We should discuss the plan."
Gamora, who came from out in the cosmos, felt she had little in common with them and interrupted the chatter among these fellow Terrans.
They were all seasoned fighters (except Brad), and had even commanded battles before. Rather than talking over one another, they quickly put together a detailed battle plan.
Brad listened with a deepening frown and couldn't help voicing his concerns.
"So you're saying we're going to fight a highly intelligent robot that can shatter the barriers between universes and possesses the Six Infinity Stones... hand to hand?"
What a crude way to fight. Were all these superheroes so straightforward in their thinking?
Brad felt they were treating the decision far too lightly.
"In my eyes, the Infinity Stones aren't all that impressive. I don't see anything wrong with our approach."
Dark Doctor Strange folded his arms and looked at Brad with a smile.
Brad shook his head, walked over to Gamora, who was holding the Infinity Stones Destroyer, and ran a hand over the machine.
"Even if you pry the stones loose, how can you be sure this machine will destroy them?"
Gamora looked haughty. "Because I've already used it to destroy the Infinity Stones in our universe."
"But what if the Infinity Stones from different universes emit different amounts of radiation? Are you still so sure it can destroy the stones from other universes?"
Seeing Gamora's blank expression, Brad couldn't help tapping his own head. "You didn't develop this machine yourself?"
"No... a Terran named Tony Stark did."
Brad stared speechlessly at Gamora as her confidence gradually faded. After a long moment, he lifted his head and sighed.
"The Watcher really should have brought in another researcher."
"If this machine fails at the critical moment, the consequences will be devastating."
"So I propose changing part of the plan."
Brad explained his ideas to the others and gained their approval.
Throughout the discussion, Brad kept watching Killmonger, but the man merely seemed to agree along with everyone else, showing no intention of contributing.
Once they finalized the plan again, the Watcher swept his hand and transported them to another universe.
Dark Doctor Strange formed a hand seal. "Don't be alarmed, everyone. I'm putting a protective spell on you."
Armor made of golden runes appeared around each of them.
Then Doctor Strange opened two interdimensional portals. Gamora and Killmonger carried the Infinity Stones Destroyer through one, while Brad entered the other.
The remaining team members stayed behind to lure Ultron over.
Party Thor started asking Doctor Strange for drinks again.
Holding an Infinity Stones Destroyer, Brad stepped into a field of ruins.
This had once been a planet with a highly advanced technological civilization, but after an invasion by a powerful enemy, it now lay completely abandoned.
Time here flowed much more slowly relative to the space where Doctor Strange and the others were. Brad had requested this.
This Infinity Stones Destroyer was a copy made by Doctor Strange, with exactly the same capabilities as the one Gamora held.
"Magic really is convenient sometimes."
Brad marveled briefly, then shot into the sky and began rapidly gathering everything useful in the surrounding area.
Measured against the flow of time on Doctor Strange's side, everything Brad did on this ruined planet seemed to be sped up tens of thousands of times.
Golden streaks flashed across the globe, and a laboratory rose from the ground.
Brad's hands were as precise as any instrument in the world. If he wanted, he could even build an aircraft carrier with his bare hands.
Of course, this was an entirely new challenge for Brad as well.
He was building a laboratory on an alien planet using alien scrap, all to study an Infinity Stones Destroyer that incorporated a certain amount of alien technology.
The Tony Stark from Gamora's universe had clearly encountered alien technological civilizations much earlier. Brad had to study many of his methods in detail.
Fortunately, his experience working with Howard made understanding Tony Stark's technology considerably easier.
The father and son clearly shared the same technical lineage. Tony had probably watched Howard conduct research since childhood.
An unknown number of years passed in a blur.
Dark Doctor Strange's voice suddenly rang in Brad's ears.
"You were right, Brad! Gamora's machine failed! Are you ready over there?"
"Holy shit! Is this what you've been doing on this planet all these years?!"
Doctor Strange instantly saw what Brad had accomplished.
Immediately afterward, a golden interdimensional portal appeared.
Brad took a deep breath. In an instant, a golden magic circle appeared behind his head. The wealth of information transmitted by a minor spell from Doctor Strange immediately brought him up to speed on the battle.
Brad broke the sound barrier in an instant and shot through the portal, appearing behind Ultron, who had regained the Infinity Stones. He slammed a brutally powerful punch into the back of Ultron's head.
Bang!
Ultron instantly became a meteor streaking across the sky, plunging headfirst into a mountain and sending dust billowing everywhere.
That punch left even Doctor Strange stunned for a second.
"Is this what you Midgardians mean by a researcher?"
Party Thor turned to Doctor Strange, his face filled with bewilderment and confusion.
"This is my first time fighting anyone." (Winter Soldier: Yeah, sure, whatever you say!)
Brad gave Party Thor a bashful smile.
Ultron's furious voice rang in everyone's ears. "It doesn't matter how many reinforcements you bring!"
Clad in armor, Ultron soared into the sky again and pointed his large metal spear at the ground. The Soul Stone, Reality Stone, Power Stone, and Space Stone embedded in his breastplate lit up together.
The sky instantly darkened. An army of countless Ultron robots materialized overhead, then flew toward the group.
Brad nodded to Doctor Strange.
With a forceful sweep of his finger, Doctor Strange expanded the portal Brad had emerged from a thousandfold.
Countless red lights lit up. An army of terminators had arrived.
