Although Brad's theory about the threat of darkness sounded rather far-fetched, the superheroes had ways to verify it.
Injustice Superman provided the technology from the Fortress of Solitude. Using its surviving Kryptonian technology, Batman and several superheroes with some scientific expertise built a parallel universe detection platform.
But the parallel universes they could detect this way were still limited, so Brad proposed linking several parallel universes that could already communicate with one another to expand their detection range.
The Justice Lords had some objections to this. Actively observing unknown parallel universes would allow universes more thoroughly permeated by destruction and madness to discover them in turn.
"Your perspective is too narrow. Information is what matters most. Once darkness completely consumes a universe, its inhabitants will always seek ways to invade universes that are still peaceful. If we don't discover them in advance, we'll be at a severe disadvantage when we encounter them."
Brad's argument won unanimous approval from the three Batmen and Owlman. They all preferred prepared battle plans to sudden encounters.
Fortunately, Batman's voice carried considerable weight in almost every universe, and all the teams ultimately approved the plan.
The next problem was building instruments in their respective universes that could detect the frequencies of different universes and linking them together.
At this point, Owlman, the Crime Syndicate's sole survivor, provided an unexpected surprise.
"As for detecting other parallel universes, I actually developed a more comprehensive instrument before."
Owlman took control of the Universal Simulation Experiment Projection Device Brad supplied. Working with both hands, he spent about an hour constructing a projection of a bizarre-looking instrument.
Everyone watched Owlman work from start to finish. A handful understood what the instrument did. Though it was not yet fully developed, it was considerably better than the one they had previously discussed
