After night fell, Ye Xixuan knocked on Ling Luochеn's door at the appointed time.
Just as he was about to knock a second time, his hand struck empty air.
Ling Luochеn emerged from her room with an expressionless face. Without waiting for Ye Xixuan to say anything, she pulled him straight inside and closed the door behind him.
The rooms the Star Luo Empire's organizers had assigned to the Shrek Academy contingent all had identical layouts. Each suite contained a bedroom, a bathroom, and a spacious living room facing the balcony.
Ye Xixuan and Ling Luochеn stood in the living room, their eyes meeting as they faced each other. For a moment, the atmosphere was decidedly strange.
Their families shared such deep ties, and the two of them had even been verbally betrothed as children. Things should never have come to this. Now, although they were not quite strangers, their only interactions were those of a senior and junior student.
"Sit down." Ling Luochеn broke the silence first, then turned and walked toward the sitting area with its sofa and crystal coffee table.
