Chapter 46: A Fiancée's Privileges

Maple Leaf City lay on the southwestern frontier of the Heaven Dou Empire, where the Heaven Dou Empire, the Star Luo Empire, and the Sun Moon Empire met.

Once they had eaten and drunk their fill, Chen Zifeng stood up to say goodbye. "Maple Leaf City isn't far from my family's home. Since we're on vacation, I'm planning to head back today. Haoxuan, you're going the same way. Are you coming?"

"Then don't follow me later," Xixi replied coolly. Yet beneath those words, she had tacitly agreed to Gongyang Mo's suggestion. She was the very picture of a sharp tongue and a soft heart.

Since Shrek Academy's inner court students regularly carried out Inspector Missions, there was always a chance that their enemies might recognize them. Shrek Academy students had been ambushed and killed before.

Support-type Soul Masters like Gongyang Mo faced even greater danger. That was why everyone habitually traveled together when leaving the academy.

Without the slightest concern for appearances, Ma Xiaotao propped her long legs on the dining table in front of her. Cradling her extravagantly full breasts in both hands, she spoke to Ye Xixuan in a languid, soft voice. "Xixuan, let's stay at the hotel tonight and return to the academy tomorrow."

Gongyang Mo let out a startled cry, but judging by his expression, he seemed to be enjoying himself. The momentum sent him hurtling toward Xixi beside him, but with a mischievous streak, she kicked his ankle to help steady him.

The four left the restaurant one after another, leaving only Ye Xixuan, Ling Luochеn, and Ma Xiaotao.

From beginning to end, Ye Xixuan had focused on finishing the food on his plate without joining their conversation.

Partly, he feared drawing the flames onto himself. The other reason was that Ling Luochеn's earlier words had dealt him an enormous shock.

Just then, Ma Xiaotao's voice reached Ye Xixuan's ears.

"You little brat, what are you thinking about so quietly?"

"My fiancée." Ye Xixuan blurted it out without thinking. When he saw the strange looks in Ma Xiaotao's and Ling Luochеn's eyes, he immediately realized it was too late.

"Sister Xiaotao, I..."

Ling Luochеn had never deliberately kept it from Ma Xiaotao. It was just that every time she mentioned her engagement to Ye Xixuan, Ma Xiaotao happened to be absent. Gongyang Mo, Chen Zifeng, and the others would not bring it up to Ma Xiaotao on their own, either.

As soon as she finished, she hooked her arm through Ye Xixuan's, her tone firm enough to leave no room for refusal.

"Come for a walk with me."

"Huh?" Ye Xixuan responded in bewilderment, but the next instant, Ling Luochеn had already pulled him out through the restaurant doors.

Left alone, Ma Xiaotao was a jumble of confusion. Her brows knitted tightly, and an inexplicable irritation stirred inside her. At that moment, her thoughts happened to echo Yao Haoxuan's earlier ones.

"What's going on? How did this little brat suddenly acquire a fiancée just by coming out on this trip? And Ling Luochеn, that ten-thousand-year-old iceberg, of all people." Yet judging by Ling Luochеn's special treatment of Ye Xixuan, she genuinely could find no reason to doubt it.

"Could it actually be true?"

With her arm linked through Ye Xixuan's, Ling Luochеn's face had returned to its usual cool composure. She was about the same height as Zhang Lexuan, a little under half a head taller than Ye Xixuan.

Whenever Ye Xixuan lowered his head, he could see Ling Luochеn's long, slender, fair legs beneath her skirt. The skin of her inner thighs was delicate and flawlessly smooth, yet firm.

"Senior Sister Ling."

"Why did you stop looking?" Neither Ling Luochеn's expression nor her tone betrayed any emotion. Already feeling guilty, Ye Xixuan instantly felt his cheeks grow hot.

Ling Luochеn pulled Ye Xixuan down onto a long wooden bench at the edge of Maple Leaf Square. With an elegant movement, she crossed her right leg over the pale, rosy knee of her left. The soft rustle of skin brushing against skin and its lustrous sheen beneath the setting sun seemed to tug at every one of Ye Xixuan's nerves.

Around them, maple leaves drifted down on the wind, rustling across the ground.

The twilight of late autumn brought waves of chill, and Ling Luochеn's voice pierced through that dusk.

"I'm your fiancée. This is your privilege."
