The weather was wonderful that night, with a bright moon hanging high and a dazzling river of stars, apart from the slight chill.
Huo Yuhao stepped down from the carriage onto the barren ground and looked around.
"Hey, are you really going to cook something?" Leng Xiao asked from behind Huo Yuhao.
Huo Yuhao nodded, then said, "Yes. Would you like some?"
"Then I suppose I'll reluctantly give it a taste." Leng Xiao answered readily. When it came to food, the Demon Race always seemed to have a particular impulse.
Huo Yuhao had not expected Leng Xiao to actually agree. He turned to look at her, then said, "Then bring some ingredients over."
"That's easy." As she spoke, Leng Xiao took a bundle from another carriage and tossed it to Huo Yuhao.
Leng Xiao dusted off her hands, then said to Huo Yuhao, "These are the rations the caravan allocates to everyone. Your allotment for these two days is all in here. Take a look."
Huo Yuhao opened the bundle. Besides some ready-to-eat rations, there were other grains and dried meat. The provisions were not particularly bad, though they were a little short on vegetables.
Huo Yuhao did not ask for much. He simply took the provisions, found a campfire with a pot beside it, and sat down.
It was already late at night. Apart from a few caravan guards keeping watch, everyone else had gone to rest.
The demon guard originally sitting beside that campfire wondered what Huo Yuhao had come to do when he sat down. But the guard was clearly an old hand, and when he saw Leng Xiao coming over as well, he very "tactfully" left.
Now only Huo Yuhao and Leng Xiao remained beside the fire.
