"Oh, right. Where did Florges go?"

Chen Shi looked around but saw no sign of Florges.

"She went to the backyard to train. Such a self-disciplined child."

Grandma Chen answered.

Understanding dawned on Chen Shi. Then he stared at Togepi in his arms, his meaning plain.

Seeing no way out, Togepi could only nod in resignation.

Chen Shi smiled and carried her to the training grounds in the backyard.

Florges was wearing a Gravity Bracelet and a belt, practicing moves such as Swift and Energy Ball on distant targets.

Florges was actually a very powerful Pokémon, with a Special Attack of 112 and a Special Defense as high as 154.

Only her stamina and physical defense were relatively weak, so Chen Shi usually had her wear weights to build up her stamina.

With a thought, Chen Shi brought up Florges's stats before his eyes.

Pokémon: Florges Level: 45 (Mid Elite) Potential: Champion candidate Ability: Flower Veil Gender: Female Moves: Safeguard, Synthesis, Wish, Petal Dance, Magical Leaf, Grassy Terrain, Grass Knot, Protect, Facade, Swift, Baton Pass, Sunny Day, Seed Bomb, Energy Ball, Solar Beam, Substitute, Disarming Voice.

"Huh?"

Chen Shi rubbed his eyes and looked at Florges's last move.

That's a freaking Fairy-type move too!

Chen Shi hurried over and asked, "Florges, stop for a moment.

"Did you learn a new move today?"

Florges turned to look at her Pokémon Trainer. After a moment's hesitation, she nodded in acknowledgment.

She had indeed learned a move that day and had intended to get familiar with it.

But to her surprise, after using it once, she had been unable to use it again.

She hadn't figured out what was going on either, which was why she had hesitated when her Pokémon Trainer asked.

Chen Shi said excitedly, "Can you use it for me?"

Florges looked a little troubled and explained the situation to him.

Chen Shi rubbed his chin in thought. Why had she been unable to use it after just one attempt?

That doesn't make sense.

"Oh, right." Chen Shi's eyes lit up. There was currently no Fairy-type energy in the world at all.

He had used Pokéblocks as a shortcut to awaken the Fairy-type energy inside Florges.

There hadn't been much to begin with. After she used a Fairy-type move once, she had no way to replenish that energy, so naturally, she couldn't use it anymore.

With that realization, Chen Shi raced back inside, leaving only Florges and Togepi standing there.

The two Pokémon sighed softly, then went back to their own activities.

Clearly, they were already used to Little Shi's occasional bouts of madness.

Soon, Chen Shi came running back with his Space Backpack.

He took out the kind of Pokéblock Florges usually ate and held it out to her, saying eagerly:

"Quick, eat this. See if you can use it after you finish."

Florges didn't hesitate either. She accepted it and began eating at a leisurely pace.

That nearly drove Chen Shi mad with impatience.

Come on, sis, can't you hurry up? Taking tiny bites like that, when are you ever going to finish?

Still, Chen Shi didn't dare interrupt her and could only wait anxiously.

Florges hated being disturbed during meals more than anything.

Even that fool Swampert didn't dare provoke her while she was eating.

After all, Swampert had a quadruple weakness to Grass.

After a while, Florges felt an additional surge of energy inside her. It felt deeply familiar, as though this was the power she should have possessed all along.

But she set that aside for the moment. Little Shi was practically dying of impatience beside her.

She found the sight rather amusing.

"Flor~"

(It's ready, Little Shi.)

Chen Shi said delightedly, "Then hurry and show me!"

Florges considered for a moment, then opened her mouth and released a series of pleasant notes imbued with pink energy.

"Yes, yes, yes! That's it! That's exactly it!"

Chen Shi clenched his fist and pumped it hard.

The Fairy type-the eighteenth type, which had knocked Dragon-type Pokémon off their pedestal.

And now he had actually brought it into the world ahead of time.

How could he not be excited?

"Flor~"

Florges reminded him that she couldn't use it again.

Chen Shi wasn't bothered at all. He reached out, patted her hand, and said seriously:

"Make sure you eat plenty of those Pokéblocks. That's how you'll replenish that energy."

"You aren't actually a Grass-type Pokémon. You're a Pokémon of a new type."

"This type is called the Fairy type."

"From now on, you'll be the next-generation Dragon Slayer."

Only after hearing Little Shi's explanation did Florges understand. No wonder that strange power felt so familiar.

So I'm not a Grass-type Pokémon. I'm a Fairy-type Pokémon.

But when she heard Little Shi's final remark, Florges rolled her lovely eyes.

Dragon Slayer? What an awful name.

Then Chen Shi thought for a moment and said, "You only need to focus on training a few of your moves."

"Just Grassy Terrain, Grass Knot, Energy Ball, Solar Beam, Wish, and Substitute."

"Grass-type moves aren't your own type, after all."

"Once the Fairy-type energy inside you gradually increases, your Fairy-type moves will slowly awaken. Those are the moves you'll need to focus on training."

Florges nodded in agreement. When it came to this sort of thing, she could just listen to her Pokémon Trainer.

"Go on with your training. I won't disturb you anymore."

"Oh, and don't let that little one slack off."

Chen Shi pointed at the little one over there, running hard with a Gravity Device attached to her eggshell.

"Flor~"

Florges agreed with a cheerful smile.

Togepi didn't know many moves yet, so there wasn't really much to train. For now, she could only focus on building stamina.

Air Slash and the Fairy-type moves she would learn later would be her main means of attack.

After that, Chen Shi watched the two Pokémon train while thinking about the Fairy type.

Togepi and Florges had both learned a Fairy-type move overnight. That definitely wasn't a coincidence.

Perhaps Xerneas was about to awaken, and the Fairy-type energy in the world was beginning to revive.

If Xerneas awoke, that also meant Yveltal would awaken soon.

That big, stupid bird waking up probably wouldn't be a good thing.

Still, none of that had anything to do with him.

With Zygarde around, if that big dumb bird dared to spread death on a massive scale, Zygarde would surely pass judgment.

Chen Shi felt the Kalos Region already had things pretty good, with the kindhearted Xerneas and Zygarde watching over order.

Just look at Hoenn. Chen Shi didn't even want to talk about it.

In his previous life, Hoenn's three idiots had been the most notorious of all.

Whenever either Can't Fly or Fathead Fish woke up, the other would wake up too.

Then they would start fighting, get thoroughly thrashed by Rayquaza in all sorts of ways, and slink back home to sleep.

Team Magma and Team Aqua had started making appearances now too. Who knew how much longer these peaceful days would last?
