It had plenty of famous buildings, museums, and arcades that drew crowds of visitors.
Of course, it also had a sizable amusement park, where many parents occasionally took their children to have fun.
Their destination today was Mauville City's amusement park.
Along the way, Chen Shi made no attempt to hide Jirachi. He openly carried it in his arms, unconcerned that anyone might recognize it.
For one thing, as a Mythical Pokémon, Jirachi was exceptionally rare.
For another, Jirachi was so unusual that even the League had probably only heard its name and had a few scattered records of it. They certainly wouldn't recognize it.
If anyone saw it in his arms, they would only assume it was some rare Pokémon. No one would know it was a Mythical Pokémon.
After arriving in Mauville City, they didn't rush straight to the amusement park. Instead, they took Jirachi around to see the sights first.
Jirachi blinked its big eyes, a little frightened by all the people coming and going.
Its previous periods of wakefulness had been brief, and even when it woke up, it would soon fall asleep again. It had never seen this many people before.
Little Jirachi couldn't help burrowing deeper into Chen Shi's arms.
Chen Shi stroked its head and comforted it. "Don't be scared. It's all right."
"They're just passing by. They don't mean you any harm."
Hearing his words, Jirachi took a timid look and realized that the people really did seem to be just passing by, paying it no attention.
Gradually, Jirachi grew bolder and began looking around curiously.
Before long, they reached Mauville City's famous Food Street.
