"Froak." Froakie felt the muscles in its legs staying tense, unable to relax. It was as though all its strength had drained away.

Cheng Tian showed Froakie the video he had just recorded. "Look, it's already starting to look a little like Double Team, isn't it?"

"Froak!" Froakie could indeed see the faint afterimage behind itself and was incredibly excited. Cheng Tian patted its head reassuringly. "Don't worry. You'll definitely master Double Team."

After resting for a while, Cheng Tian took Froakie over to watch Bai Yun and Chimchar train.

Bai Yun and Chimchar were practicing punches in front of a punch counter. "Chim-cha-cha-cha!" Lightning flickered around Chimchar's hands as it struck the target at blistering speed.

When the one-minute timer ended, the counter displayed the results.

Time: 60s Attacks: 116 Force: Average 24 kg per hit

That force was already quite impressive, considering Chimchar had only recently been born.

"How's training going?" Cheng Tian brought over two bottles of water and handed one to Bai Yun. Bai Yun twisted it open and took a sip. "Pretty well. Chimchar's speed and strength have picked up. Next, I'm planning to train Fire Punch."

Two weeks was neither a long time nor a short one. The best approach was to thoroughly master a few moves first. Blindly chasing new moves would only leave them with a jumble of skills and mastery of none. That was why Bai Yun planned to have Chimchar practice its two punching moves first.

"Yeah, the Double Team training is showing results too. How about letting these two little guys rest for a bit?" Cheng Tian suggested.

And so, they decided to take a short break. The training room offered instructional training videos. After scrolling through a couple, Cheng Tian spotted one that caught his attention.

"Hello, everyone. In this episode, we'll be teaching you how to train your Pokémon's strength more effectively." Cheng Tian's eyes lit up. "Hey, come look! There's a video about strength training here." Bai Yun was interested too and joined Cheng Tian to watch.

"To train strength, you can't simply focus on strength exercises. You must also learn to control your body. By exerting strength under more extreme conditions, you can get used to that sensation, rapidly increasing your strength while improving your stamina."

"Today, we'll discuss one such method: weighted training." As he spoke, the man in the video walked over to a Hitmonchan beside him. Lead weights wrapped in cloth were strapped to both of Hitmonchan's arms.

"Appropriate weighted training puts pressure on a Pokémon's muscles, bringing them under load in a short period so the Pokémon can begin pushing past its physical limits."

"Of course, this method isn't suitable for every Pokémon. Trainers should choose whether to use it based on their Pokémon's individual circumstances. If used improperly, it may cause muscle strains. In that case, please visit a Pokémon Center to have your Pokémon treated. Finally, I wish all you trainers ever-growing strength."

The short, one-minute video gave Cheng Tian and Bai Yun plenty of inspiration. This method seemed suitable for their own Pokémon too.

"Tian, let's try this method too!" Bai Yun said excitedly.

Cheng Tian nodded in agreement. "Then let's go buy some weights after training."

After training ended, the two had their Pokémon treated, then went to the item section of the Pokémon store.

One bought training weights for the arms, while the other bought weights for the legs.

Each item cost 1,500...

That amount was nothing to Bai Yun, of course. He swiped his card without a second thought. Cheng Tian, on the other hand, jumped at the price. But once he learned the items could be returned or exchanged within two weeks, he paid without hesitation.

I'll just return them after the exam. If we still need to train, I'll buy them again for another two weeks, then return them again!

I'm freeloading, and I'm proud!

After leaving the store, Cheng Tian and Bai Yun immediately fitted their Pokémon with the items. Once the weights were on, Froakie and Chimchar clearly struggled to adjust.

"Froak." "Chim." Froakie felt its legs become terribly heavy after putting on the weights. It could not even take a single step. Seeing this, Cheng Tian adjusted the load to five kilograms.

"Froakie, these will help speed up your leg training. Once you've worn them for a while and taken them off, you'll be able to use Double Team. So stick with it," Cheng Tian said.

Bai Yun also adjusted the load to five kilograms. Chimchar tried to lift its hands, only to discover it could not raise them at all. For the next stretch of time, the two little ones would have to work hard to get used to the weights.

Over the following days, Froakie took about three days to adjust to the weights and was soon running at its original speed again. By the weekend, it no longer felt the weights at all. Meanwhile, Chimchar went from struggling to throw a single punch to being able to keep going, "Muda, muda..."

Firm, clearly defined muscles had visibly developed on Chimchar's arms and Froakie's legs. These were the results of their training.

"All right, Froakie. Let's take the weights off now and see how fast you can run."

On the treadmill, Cheng Tian removed Froakie's weights. Froakie had already grown used to wearing them, so the moment they came off, its body suddenly felt much lighter.

That was the benefit of weighted training. "Froak!" Froakie felt it could now run at setting four!

With the treadmill at setting four, Froakie pumped its legs so quickly that even they left afterimages. It only began to tire after running for five minutes.

Cheng Tian stopped the treadmill and nodded in satisfaction. "Looks like it worked incredibly well!"

Froakie was happy too. It realized it had begun to enjoy this feeling, from the initial struggle to adjust and all the difficulties along the way.

Then came the gradual adjustment, overcoming obstacles, and training hard, until it finally achieved results. Though the process was grueling, the sweat it put in was matched by the rewards it earned!

"Froakie, steady your breathing. Now move from side to side as fast as you can," Cheng Tian ordered.

"Froak!" Froakie nodded and began moving at top speed.

Gradually, three Froakie actually appeared on the training floor! Cheng Tian was thrilled at the sight. The Double Team training had succeeded!

The information panel promptly updated, and Double Team now appeared among its moves.

Double Team (lv1)

Seeing Froakie successfully master Double Team made Bai Yun incredibly envious. He hurriedly removed Chimchar's training weights as well and switched on the punch counter.

"Come on, Chimchar! Attack as fast as you can!"

"Chim!" Chimchar relaxed its arms and immediately felt as though it had endless strength. With an excited cry, it wrapped its fists in flames and punched the target.

At just the right moment, Cheng Tian took out his phone and played the most hype part of "Roundabout" at 1.5 times speed.

Hearing that familiar musical style, Chimchar felt as though some DNA hidden within its body had stirred. The flames around its fists blazed even brighter.

The wind of victory is blowing at my back!!!!!

Cheng Tian nodded. This kid really had gone full JoJo...

"*! Tian, turn that off! Stop leading Chimchar astray!" Bai Yun lunged over to shut off the music. "How am I doing that? Look how fired up Chimchar is!"

While the two were horsing around, the timer finished. The machine produced its report.

Time: 60s Attacks: 138 Average force: 4.5 kg per hit

"Look, look! Chimchar's improvement is so obvious!" Cheng Tian said, pointing at the machine.

Chimchar coolly blew out the flames on its fists and adopted an expression strikingly reminiscent of DIO.

This time belongs to me alone!!

Bai Yun looked utterly speechless. Cheng Tian struggled to hold back his laughter. "It's fine. If the kid has an interest in this sort of thing, you should support it. Look how much it's improved. Its level is just low right now. Once it evolves into Monferno, I bet it'll have a hundred-percent chance of learning Mach Punch."

Though Chimchar was heading farther and farther down the road to becoming JoJo-fied, both little ones had made great strides through weighted training.

Cheng Tian silently thought that all they needed to do now was keep up this training method.

Next, he would review the theoretical material and work hard to earn better marks, so he could get into a good class when the class assignments were made.
