Cheng Tian tried crouching down and touching the Rotom that had fainted from fright. To his surprise, his finger passed straight through its body!
"Whew... good thing we didn't let it get away..." Yu Pangrui ran over, panting. "Thanks, Cheng Tian. The two of us spent ages trying to catch it in the lab, but we couldn't get hold of it. It nearly slipped away."
"S-sorry, Pangrui. It was my carelessness that let Rotom get away..." The girl beside him looked full of self-reproach, on the verge of tears.
"All right, it's fine, it's fine. It didn't get away in the end, did it?" Yu Pangrui comforted her as he scooped up the Rotom on the floor.
Cheng Tian was a little puzzled. Why couldn't he touch Rotom?
"Oh, don't be surprised. Rotom are Ghost-type Pokémon. They can move freely through any electronic component, and human bodies can't touch them," Yu Pangrui explained with a smile. "These gloves have been specially treated. That's why I can grab Rotom directly."
"So that's how it works." Understanding dawned on Cheng Tian.
"Come on, I'll show you around the club." The girl followed behind Yu Pangrui, with Cheng Tian and Gengar following them.
The laboratory looked rather worse for wear. Apart from them, two other boys were tidying up inside. Many documents had been knocked onto the floor, and even a laptop had been smashed. But Yu Pangrui waved it off without concern. "How is it? Are the other Rotom all right?"
"Everything's normal apart from this one."
"Mm..." Yu Pangrui gave Cheng Tian an embarrassed smile. "Sorry you had to see that. We made quite a spectacle of ourselves trying to catch this Rotom."
"So, what are our club's main activities?" Cheng Tian asked.
"Our club does all sorts of things. We
