Here was a rough breakdown of the team's roles: Aggron and Tinkaton handled tanking and damage on the front line, Ninetales and Sylveon acted as opportunities arose, Togekiss and Gengar attacked from range, Milotic and Florges provided healing and control, and Noibat drew attention and harassed the enemy from the air.
Before that, however, Gengar still needed to put in a little more work.
The process was utterly shameless. Gengar used Reflect Type to change its typing to Ninetales's Fairy and Ice types, then swapped its Ability with the opposing Hydreigon's Levitate. This kept it from being quite so helpless against the opponent's Dragon-type moves.
Unfortunately, Greninja was not on the field at the time. Otherwise, they could have pulled off something even more disgusting: have Greninja use Role Play to copy Hydreigon's Levitate, then have Gengar use Skill Swap to take Levitate and pass it to a teammate. By repeating this cycle... they could replace the entire team's Abilities with Levitate!
Then all they would need was to leave Aggron on the ground, frantically dishing out damage with Earthquake while the others drew fire and held the enemy back in midair. It would be as disgusting as could be, shameless to the extreme!
It was just a pity they could not pull it off.
Cheng Tian took a deep breath, raised his left arm, and revealed his Key Stone. "Mega Evolve! Aggron!"
"Roar!" Brilliant white light blazed from Aggron's body.
The two of them had their reasons for choosing to Mega Evolve Aggron instead of Gardevoir. After Mega Evolution, Gardevoir could indeed deal explosive damage to Hydreigon with Fairy-type moves. But Gardevoir had only just evolved. Not only would it struggle to adjust to its power after Mega Evolution, even the boost it received would fall far short of
