Their luck had certainly been good that morning, but the afternoon had not gone nearly as smoothly.
"Careful." Cheng Tian pulled Su Han along as he leaped over the layer of gravel ahead. Su Han lost her footing and slid down two steps, and Cheng Tian hurriedly caught her.
"Whoa... that was dangerous," Su Han said, still shaken.
This was another drawback of Gravel Mountain. The thick layer of gravel covering it made walking extremely inconvenient. If a torrential rain fell, the rainwater would wash the gravel into mountain torrents. Anyone walking on the gravel could easily slip if they were careless.
The setting sun hung low on the distant horizon, red as blood.
It was already getting late. Ever since they had arrived at Gravel Mountain that afternoon, the Z-Crystals on their wrists had shown no reaction whatsoever. Along the way, they had also dealt with several fairly strong Rock-type Pokémon, but no Rockium Z had appeared.
"Looks like we really were lucky this morning," Cheng Tian said.
Continuing to search like this would not yield any results, and walking on Gravel Mountain at night could easily be dangerous. They decided to find a relatively flat spot to light a fire and rest.
Just as they were about to light the fire, a roar suddenly came from below the slope to their right.
"Hm?"
Su Han looked up and saw an enormous Onix emerging from the ground. Countless grains of gravel fell from its body as it roared, slowly shifting its body and moving forward.
"The temperature on the mountain gets very cold at night," Cheng Tian said. "That Onix is probably looking for somewhere a little warmer."
