The mountains of these highlands were almost entirely bare, as though time and nature had stripped away all their vegetation, leaving only solid rock.
The peaks were steep and treacherous, crisscrossed with fissures that made them seem impossible to traverse.
The entire highland landscape was grayish brown, blending into its surroundings with an indescribable air of solitude and solemnity. Yet as Yong walked along the trail, he felt the weight of ages-not cold or indifferent, but strangely comforting.

Even though there were no Pokémon in sight, the boy could sense the presence of Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon hidden all around them.
It was a marvelous sensation.
Apart from the path beneath their feet, the winding gullies of varying depths that covered the terrain were ideal homes for these Pokémon.
These gullies resembled scars on the earth, recording the changes wrought by the passing years. Some were narrow and sheer, as though carved by a blade; others were broad and deep like canyons, creating one unique, magnificent vista after another.
Cynthia kept surveying the scenery around them, a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
