Whether traces of Goomy had really been found, or whether someone had caught that Goomy, held little appeal for Yong and Cynthia.
Instead, spending time with their companions and leisurely enjoying good food was what made them happiest.
And so they passed a relaxing day.
The next morning, in the early sunlight, the two set off again, continuing their climb up Mount Lanakila.
As the altitude rose and the temperature gradually dropped.
Even the sparse vegetation vanished from sight.
The grayish-brown rocks and mountainside gradually lost their color, wrapped in a thick mantle of silver.
After Yong and Cynthia crossed a rubble-strewn stone ledge that looked almost like a fault line, a frozen world blanketed in pristine snow came into view.
On the other side of the mountain, halfway up a sunny slope, a group of Alolan Sandshrew and Alolan Geodude were helping humans level part of the mountainside to build a new Battle Stage.
"Whew... the temperature dropped so suddenly. It's a completely different world from where we just were."
His warm breath instantly turned into white mist. Yong rubbed his hands together, checked the fit of his gloves, and only spoke with a sigh of wonder once he was satisfied.
Cynthia wore a cute woolly hat that Yong had picked out especially for her.
She rubbed her hands together as well, gazing at the white landscape and mountains ahead with anticipation in her eyes.
"This feels faintly familiar to me. It's just like the snowy mountains north of Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh-mysterious, majestic, and imposing."
Yong pursed his lips.
Fine! The Hoenn Region only had icefields and highlands. It really didn't have a peak that could rival great mountain ranges like Mt. Coronet or Mount Lanakila.
"If we're comparing volcanoes, though, Mt. Chimney is where Groudon sleeps..."
