A sea route linking different regions, made safe for passage only through immense investments of manpower and resources and long years of arduous exploration.
In ancient times, after humans and "monsters" first truly began to coexist peacefully, the two races entered a honeymoon period of prolonged cooperation, allowing human society to develop rapidly.
This sea route, too, had gradually been established through expedition after expedition.
Even though the Long-Distance Sea Route was relatively the safest passage by sea, the weather along it changed drastically between day and night!
Compared with the calm seas during the day, night brought towering waves and furious storms!
On his first long sea voyage, Yong sat beside his bed and looked out the window. The chaotic weather, enormous waves, and inexplicable noises once again made him feel the awesome power of nature!
How insignificant were humans before it?
Suddenly, several flashes of golden light streaked through the darkness, followed by a series of furious roars!
Pokémon were fighting!
The thought immediately sprang into Yong's mind.
He moved closer to the window and peered outside, but a hazy veil of fog obscured everything. Apart from the churning spray and distant roars, he could only make out the occasional faint flash of a move.
What kind of Pokémon could they be?
Yong felt both anxious and curious.
The roars gradually receded, fading into silence, and the boy breathed a sigh of relief.
But just then, an enormous, ink-black pupil suddenly appeared outside the window! Like a bottomless darkness, it stared fixedly at Yong!
Cold sweat instantly poured down his body. Yong sat motionless on the bed.
Though the pupil was black, it was different from the surrounding darkness. The faint gleam in its gaze left Yong certain that this creature was watching him!
