No other Pokémon lived in this cave because Darkrai had been sealed here.
After sharing some secrets with Yong, the weakened Darkrai slipped into his shadow and fell silent. Thankfully, Darkrai was finally out, and would gradually recover strength and condition.
Yong took one last look around, then turned and left the cave.
They retraced their steps, and Swampert broke through the mountain wall, which had closed again, with a single punch. Plenty of trainers and adventurers would probably enter this passage in the future. By then, the cave hidden in its depths might have become a home for other Pokémon.
The gains from this trip put Yong in a very good mood.
Even his steps felt much lighter.
He let Larvesta out again and held the Pokémon in his arms. The boy and his two companions walked through the deepest part of Stone Tunnel, continuing along the main road.
Along the way, they passed one fork after another, as well as passages on either side of the stone walls. Although they encountered Pokémon such as Geodude and Sandshrew, most were actually of other types, far from what Yong had expected...
After several stops and starts, the path beneath their feet leveled out again.
The boy spoke, sounding a little discouraged.
"Swampert, looks like my plan to find you some new companions is going to fall through..."
"Lachi!"
Swampert gave a soft roar at his words and pointed into the darkness ahead, urging Yong not to give up.
"All right! This should be the deepest part of Stone Tunnel, so let's keep looking! I wonder where those ruins Empoleon mentioned are..."
As he muttered, Yong kept scanning both sides of the road.
A little later, they entered another passage.
The path here actually sloped upward. Marks left by sharp blades
