Team Magma's members wisely refrained from asking whether they needed to take part. Drake of the Elite Four, who had been watching them the whole time, had already made his position clear...
Looking at the rift stretching across one side of the low mountain, then at the seawater held back by the stone wall ahead, Steven swept his hand out and threw two Pokémon Balls.
Pop!
Pop!
Two white flashes merged into one, and with two resounding clangs, Aggron and Armaldo appeared on the ground beside the stone wall.
Steven looked at everyone.
"Miss Glacia, I'll leave Armaldo with you. You and Mr. Sidney will lead every Pokémon that can use Water-type moves. See that huge rift at the foot of the mountain? I need you to keep attacking it!"
"Understood!"
Glacia nodded in acknowledgment. The crowd spread out of its own accord, and nearly a third of the Trainers stepped forward.
Their Pokémon weren't necessarily Water-types, but as long as they could use Water-type moves, that was enough.
Although using Rain Dance directly would have been the best approach, their half of the area was already under the control of Great Drought's weather, which could not be replaced.
Glacia and Sidney led their group toward the foot of the low mountain.
Standing beside the great rift, everyone carefully avoided the cracks beneath their feet and the scorched rocks that had cooled. Enduring the searing heat, they all made their moves. Pokémon Balls flew out, and white flashes shone in a dense, unbroken mass as Pokémon appeared before their Trainers!
