The Kalos Region's early integration had led to the Lalola Region being discovered sooner. It could hardly all be called the butterfly effect of Yong's actions, but there was still some connection.
The Pokémon League probably already knew about the so-called "Island Guardians" and "Ultra Wormholes," too.
The Alola Region was modeled after the Hawaiian Islands from his previous life.
