In the end, after being "talked into it" by both sides, Miwa Chisei decided to take on the assignment with Miss Mei.
The job of stealing handwriting samples fell to Toji Fushiguro. Ideally, they would be from someone of her grandfather's generation, which would yield more information.
Mei Mei would gather scattered clues and unofficial accounts from outside to find a lead.
But tracing something back a hundred and fifty years was no simple task.
On the way back to Jujutsu High, Miwa Chisei and Satoru Gojo got along for once. She was busy thinking, so her replies to his nonsense were perfunctory.
"Gojo, do you know where Kenjaku's corpse is?"
At that question out of nowhere, Satoru Gojo scoffed.
"Why would I know something like that?"
Fair enough. Satoru Gojo wasn't the sort to take an interest in a century-old corpse.
"What, you can find out someone's fate just by touching their bones, too?"
Satoru Gojo clicked his tongue softly, sounding decidedly annoyed.
"Dead people can't write, after all. I suppose this is a form of jujutsu I worked out myself."
She looked utterly unruffled while saying something straight out of a horror story. Satoru Gojo thought the kid in front of him was sick in the head. Who studied how to perform rituals on corpses at her age?
"Miwa, you're disgusting."
"Thank you for the compliment."
That was their usual way of communicating. Satoru Gojo fell silent for a while before speaking again, casually as ever.
"No idea about the corpse, but the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings are in the Tombs of the Star Corridor. Could touching those give you a clue?"
"Alive or dead?"
"..."
It was rare for anything to leave Satoru Gojo speechless. The irritated boy bristled.
"How should I know?!"
Miwa Chisei sighed again
