Cordis slowly opened his eyes. Before him stood a crowd of people in long gowns, masks, and caps that covered them from head to toe.
They held knives that gleamed coldly.
Cordis could clearly feel something cutting open his belly. Someone's hand rummaged around inside it, doing who knew what.
Fortunately, that wasn't what concerned him.
Instead, he turned his head with difficulty toward the iron door and saw Killua leaning against its window, watching anxiously.
The moment he saw Killua, Cordis's furrowed brow finally relaxed. But a nurse soon noticed that his eyes were open.
The nurse gasped. "The... the patient's awake!"
The attending physician froze with his hand poised to continue. Everyone stared at Cordis in disbelief, apparently never having expected him to wake up during surgery.

The nurse responsible for anesthesia protested, sounding aggrieved. "I already gave him three times the normal dose! Who knew it wouldn't be enough?"
But the attending physician couldn't be bothered to argue anymore. "Hurry up! Give him more! If you keep this up, go back to school for a few more years!"
