Background / History
Cordis was a twenty-first-century psychiatric patient associated with Aiboka Psychiatric Hospital on Blue Star. He repeatedly killed innocent people in the name of justice, becoming notorious enough that adults used his name to frighten children. Having reached a level of strength at which nobody could threaten him, he grew profoundly lonely and deliberately revealed his location to the police, allowing himself to be arrested 1 2.
Shortly before his scheduled execution, Cordis escaped to watch a new Hunter x Hunter update. A nonphysical, talking eyeball informed him that the higher-ups had ordered his permanent banishment from Blue Star because of his overwhelming strength. Offered a choice of parallel worlds, he selected the world of Hunter x Hunter, identifying himself as a devoted fan 1.
Hisoka’s attack soon gave Cordis the danger and pressure he had missed in his original world. After surviving the encounter, he exchanged his jewelry for inexpensive clothes and registered for the Hunter Exam 2.
Appearance
Cordis has an exceptionally beautiful, innocent-looking face that contrasts sharply with his capacity for violence 1 19.
- Hair: Long, silver-white hair 7 19.
- Eyes: Azure or deep blue, repeatedly compared to precious gemstones 1 19 40.
- Skin: Very pale, described as snowy-white 1 2.
- Build: Slender but not frail; he resents being mocked for his thin limbs 12 30.
- Height in heels: His black heels bring him to approximately 180 centimeters; his barefoot height is not specified 30.
- Right-arm injury: Hisoka’s punch shatters his right elbow. Treatment removes the need for a cast, but leaves the arm slightly crooked; Cordis covers it with an extra-long black glove 19 29 30.
Personality
Cordis combines a gentle, affectionate manner with a willingness to kill without hesitation. He repeatedly rescues his companions, tends their injuries, and encourages them to grow stronger. His concern for Gon includes covering the boy’s eyes after decapitating an attacker, believing children should retain their innocence 6 17 19 23.
Danger excites him because his unmatched strength on Blue Star had made life intolerably lonely. Nevertheless, his appetite for combat does not erase his fear of stronger opponents: he becomes deferential around Chrollo and obeys Feitan when he cannot resist him. His father taught him that the weak must obey the strong 2 34 41.
He is intensely fashion-conscious and easily captivated by beautiful people, gemstones, and natural scenery. His love of beauty can outweigh practical gains: he rejects the Febola Stone’s power because absorbing it would destroy the gem. The sky and ocean are especially calming to him 2 3 16 36 42.
Despite his playful confidence, Cordis expresses sadness about being called crazy and envies Gon’s relationship with Aunt Mito. He is unfamiliar with romantic love and attributes some of that ignorance to his upbringing. He also rejects dwelling on the past, preferring to face the future 12 21.
Abilities & Skills
Flowing Woman
Cordis’s Specialist ability controls “anything that flows,” explicitly including water, blood, and air, and allows him to shape those substances freely 33 34.
- Water projectiles: Draws water from a fountain into a barrier, divides it into uniform droplets, and fires them at enemies. The droplets burst on contact, scattering water like sharp needles 32.
- Projectile limitations: The water droplets are slow enough for alert opponents to dodge; defensive Nen abilities can withstand the barrage 32.
- Air attacks: His first manifested attack sends a blast of air past Hisoka quickly enough to cut his cheek before he reacts 20.
- Invisible restraints: Suspends and binds an attacker in midair without visible restraints 33 34.
- Air displacement: Several uses briefly thin the surrounding air, causing nearby people to struggle to breathe 22 33.
- Blood constructs: Shapes blood into spikes and supporting pillars 40.
- Aerial movement: Alternates blood pillars beneath his feet to pursue a helicopter, appearing to walk through the sky 40 41.
Pierce, Flowing Woman
A lethal application of blood control used against Nedepu 40.
- Cordis places his hand on Nedepu’s back and accelerates his blood flow; the initial effect makes Nedepu feel energized and begins healing some wounds 40.
- Excessive circulation sends blood rushing into the brain. Cordis subsequently draws out Nedepu’s blood and uses it for external constructs 40 46.
- The formed blood spikes return to ordinary liquid blood after exposure to the air 40.
Healing Through Blood Regulation
Cordis can use the same ability therapeutically by controlling circulation at a moderate pace 46.
- Removes Hisoka’s Texture Surprise and heals the chin wound he inflicted earlier 46 47.
- Distinguishes healing from his lethal technique by carefully regulating the speed of blood flow 46.
- His own right arm remains weaker after its earlier injury; no complete self-healing of that damage is demonstrated 29 46.
Martial Arts and Physical Combat
Cordis is proficient in numerous martial arts and was already a formidable fighter before awakening Nen 2 27.
- Strength: Carries Kurapika and Leorio to safety and knocks an arena opponent out with one punch 6 12.
- Blade combat: Severs an attacker’s weapon and neck with one strike, also cutting deeply into the tree behind him 19.
- Agility: Flips over Hisoka’s attack to rescue Leorio and repeatedly evades Bokukuka despite having only one usable arm 7 27.
- Combat observation: Reads small movements and facial changes, exploiting openings in Bokukuka’s attacks and the repetition in Nedepu’s punching style 27 40.
- Limits: Hisoka overpowers him, while Feitan’s strength prevents him from escaping a grip on his collar. His injured right arm restricts his available techniques 19 27 34 46.
Sensory Awareness and Improvisation
- Tracks Hisoka through sound and the scent of blood while temporarily blinded 7.
- Detects a hollow floor by listening and knocking, correctly suspecting a concealed mechanism 11.
- Notices watchers at Bolan Tomb before the Phantom Troupe visibly reacts and later detects people on a distant hill near the banquet mansion 32 37.
- Uses Leorio’s briefcase and scattered documents to obstruct Hisoka’s sight and escape 7.
Learning and Nen Instruction
Cordis is described as a childhood genius capable of teaching himself material from elementary-school through university level from books 19.
- Develops a Nen Ability immediately upon awakening, without a teacher 20 28.
- Forcibly awakens Kurapika’s Nen by releasing aura into him, then teaches him to draw that aura back in 28.
- Warns that forced awakening can kill a physically unprepared recipient and that uncontrolled aura loss can cause fatal exhaustion 28.
- Admits that learning independently and teaching others are different skills, recommending professional instruction for Kurapika’s further training 28.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Hunter License — Received after the exam; later used as collateral to obtain a presidential suite at a five-star hotel, then redeemed after cashing his payment 29 35 42.
- Black outfit and heels — A unique, expensive ensemble purchased with Hisoka’s money. Hisoka later claims the outfit and glove cost 300 million JN 30 44.
- Black pearl-thread glove — An extra-long glove chosen to conceal his crooked right arm 30.
- Febola Stone / sapphire — Obtained from Chrollo in exchange for promising to visit the Spider often. After Cordis refuses to absorb its power, it becomes a sapphire 42.
- Commissioned brooch — Spends his remaining money commissioning it after redeeming his license 42 44.

Relationships

- Killua — Removes Illumi’s implanted Nen Needle and frees him from its fear-inducing control. Killua thanks Cordis, becomes openly affectionate, and wants to accompany him after the exam 26 27 28 29.
- Kurapika — Rescues him and later awakens his Nen. Kurapika proposes training and working together, but fears Cordis’s connection to the Spider could make them enemies 6 28 29.
- Leorio — Rescues him from danger and carries his abandoned briefcase. Leorio fights beside him against Hisoka, later splints his broken elbow, and thanks him for his help during the exam 4 6 7 21 24.
- Hisoka — A dangerous rival who calls Cordis “Little Apple” and intends to let him grow stronger before killing him. Their association includes travel, financial debt, unwanted advances, and repeated violence; Cordis explicitly warns him not to touch him again 2 17 29 44 46.
- Illumi / Gittarackur — Initially admires his disguised appearance and asks for styling advice. Later opposes his control over Killua by removing and returning the Nen Needle 2 3 26.
- Chrollo — Helps identify Cordis’s Nen category and gives him the Febola Stone. Cordis feels both admiration and nervous deference toward him, while Chrollo remains suspicious of his supposed Meteor City origins 31 34 41 42.
- Feitan — Forces the inexperienced Cordis to play a two-player arcade game and berates his repeated failures. Cordis complies because Feitan is stronger 34.
- Wing — Meets him at Heavens Arena and persuades him to buy tickets to Gon’s match. Wing becomes less guarded after learning that Cordis is a friend of Gon and Killua 42.

Trivia

- His body clock wakes him at four or five in the morning, a pattern unchanged for four or five years; once awake, he cannot return to sleep 35.
- Despite his rapid learning in other fields, his outing with Feitan is his first gaming experience, and he repeatedly dies in the arcade game 34.
