This was something Cordis had not expected.
Cordis could not understand this behavior, but before he could think it through, Colt spoke slowly after a long hesitation.
"You needn't worry. The King is doing well. He's out with the Royal Guards right now, searching for herbs that can heal you."
Colt had lied.
The King had long since vanished, not caring in the slightest whether the Queen lived or died.
At this critical moment, with the Queen's life hanging in the balance, Colt wanted to use this lie to rekindle her will to live, even if it was false.
And when the Queen heard those words, her expression changed just as Colt had hoped.
A trace of relief appeared on her otherwise unreadable face. She did not seem to suspect Colt's lie at all.
Everyone already knew that the King had abandoned the Queen and left.
Hearing Colt's words, even the usually aloof Knov could not help frowning.
"Thank goodness. As long as the King is safe."
The Queen responded in a trembling voice, struggling to catch her breath.
Her voice was already so faint that it was almost inaudible, but the news seemed to have stirred her desire to live. The Queen, who should not have survived even ten minutes, had somehow held on until now.
But soon, something seemed to occur to her. She looked anxiously at Colt and spoke with urgency.
"Go tell the King! Tell him to leave with the Royal Guards at once. Tell him not to concern himself with whether someone like me lives or dies."
"After all, that child can rule the entire world!"
As she said this, the pride on the Queen's face was impossible to hide, but it soon turned to worry.
"He was born too soon. That worries me terribly."
