The doctor led Killua down the corridor to a large iron door. The faint smells of blood and disinfectant lingered in the air, making Killua's heart begin to race.
The doctor checked his phone and, seeing that it was still early, told Killua to sit down and wait.
But Killua refused.
Just then, a young nurse approached the doctor with a tray in her hands, complaining helplessly, "Doctor! Those two patients won't let us change their dressings properly. They insist on coming here!"
"Especially the one with that steak-shaped hair! He's been making such a racket in the ward that the other patients can't stand it! They're threatening to file complaints against me!"
The doctor frowned at that. Just as he was wondering whether he should tie those two down, they appeared behind the young nurse, having followed her over at some point.
Knuckle and Shoot were startled to see Killua. "Killua, what are you doing here? We can look after Cordis!"
"Gon needs you more, doesn't he? You should go take care of him first."
Killua said nothing, his eyes still fixed on the ward with a faint light shining through its door.
The two exchanged puzzled looks. After finally learning what had happened from the doctor, they decided not to return to their ward and sat on the bench in the corridor instead.
They let the nurses apply medicine to their wounds.
As time slowly passed, the tightly shut doors finally opened.
A very young-looking doctor emerged, holding both hands up. His white gloves were covered in bright red blood, and quite a bit had stained his clothes as well.
He looked around before asking,
"Who's the patient's family?"
At those words, all three hurried forward.
"How's Cordis doing?" Killua was the first to ask.
