In the ring at Heavens Arena, A Luo and Xien were locked in a fierce fight.
Meanwhile, in a small inn not far from Heavens Arena, Gon and Killua finally noticed something was wrong.
Wasn't the man guarding them breathing far too quietly?
And he had been doing it for far too long.
It was as though he didn't need to breathe at all.
During his years at home, Killua had undergone countless forms of specialized training as a member of an assassin family.
He knew several ways to conceal his breathing.
But none of those methods could let someone go without breathing for this long.
There was definitely something wrong with this man.
When Killua noticed the anomaly, Gon, who was tied back-to-back with him, noticed it too.
Moving in perfect sync, the two boys broke free of their ropes, then attacked the man guarding the door from either side.
The man instinctively took a defensive stance.
But the boys had never intended to fight him. Their attacks were only feints; their real goal was to escape through the windows on either side.
The man froze.
His master had only told him to stand guard here, not what to do if the two boys escaped!
After a brief silence, the man simply sat back down where he had been.
It seemed Xien's ability still required him to be present and ready to deal with unexpected situations. Otherwise, the puppets under his command were merely puppets, of little practical use.
Once outside, the two boys saw that the man hadn't followed them and excitedly high-fived.
"Just as I thought! That guy isn't normal. He's probably just a puppet someone is controlling."
