In the X-Men films, Cyclops spent most of his time playing a supporting role.
His combat performance could be summed up as spectating from a distance. He had neither Wolverine's bone-crunching punches and bloody slashes nor the spectacle of Magneto controlling tens of thousands of tons of metal with a wave of his hand, so people inevitably felt he had been sidelined.
In reality, as one of the leaders of the X-Men, his mutant ability was far from weak.
Or rather, Optic Blast was a mutant ability with a very low floor and a very high ceiling.
The name of this SR card's first effect was Infinite Energy, stating simply and bluntly that this ability was a heavy laser cannon with unlimited energy!
Thanks to the protection of a special psychic force field, Optic Blast could theoretically be used without limits, giving it infinite combat endurance.
It sounded wonderful, but...
Dio had said it countless times: humans had limits!
As vital organs that allowed humans to perceive the colors of the outside world, the eyes were also among the most fragile parts of the human body. They were inherently something that had to be classified as a weak point.
In actual use, Cyclops himself found it difficult to push Optic Blast to its maximum power. He usually had to shut it off manually after firing a few rounds.
That was because firing blasts for extended periods could easily cause excessive eye strain, placing an enormous burden on his eyes.
(Uchiha Itachi: yeah, yeah, exactly!)
Josen was ready to challenge his physiological limits in that regard.
Although his eyes could not block bullets outright like Superman's, with his biological force field, the accumulation of countless Attribute Cards had made them countless times stronger than those of an ordinary mutant like Cyclops.
