Apparently, Butcher was trying to strangle Homelander.
Wasn't that even more ridiculous than Captain America trying to strangle an Ultron Robot?
Awkwardly enough, even sealed and completely defenseless, Homelander showed no reaction.
He hadn't even woken up under his "torture."
Josen: "..."
Sure enough, the little bit of strength granted by the A-Train character card couldn't even suffocate him or wake him up.
"Uh..."
Seeing Josen fall silent, Butcher wiped away some sweat and called out to him without a care, "Hello, boss! You're back!"
Josen: "..."
"What about your promise?"
"What promise? You saw it yourself. This bitch is a bit tough. I'm working on it!"
"Stop. I gave you a chance, and you couldn't get it done."
Josen stepped forward and stopped Butcher's ineffectual efforts.
"If Homelander knew you were humiliating him like this, he might die of anger."
"That would save us some trouble!"
Whether the Sealing Jutsu had run out of energy or Homelander's powerful resistance had taken effect, he woke from the darkness. His still-functioning Super Senses clearly outlined Josen's figure in the dark.
They also revealed a black-clad clown strangling him, seemingly the husband of the Vought International employee he had slept with a few years ago.
But that wasn't important.
Losing his eyes hadn't robbed him of his perception of the outside world. That was no gift from God; it only made him more desperate.
"Listen, Flash!"
"I can take responsibility and resign from the Seven, then publicly announce that you'll take over as captain. You'll become the most popular superhero!"
"Let me go. I'm already blind. I'm no threat to you. Why do you insist on killing me?"
Hearing Homelander yield and beg for mercy, Butcher looked at Josen as though he had seen a ghost.
Was this the lofty, saintlike Homelander?
