Judging by the direction of the sound and how far it carried, Josen figured that a speedster was probably responsible for the commotion.
His gaze locked onto one direction, and the flow of time abruptly slowed.
A figure sprinting dozens of meters with each stride felt his heart skip a beat. He unconsciously raised his head and met Josen's green eyes precisely from nearly a kilometer away.
The two pairs of eyes maintained contact for a full second. It seemed brief, but to a speedster, it was like an entire day had passed.
Only then did No. 7 finally confirm that Josen had not merely glanced in his direction unconsciously-he had actually seen him!
"Hiss..."
Since his birth, No. 7 had never encountered anyone whose naked eyes could keep up with his speed!
He had only ever heard about the House of Evolution's nominal boss. How could that compare to the shock of witnessing him firsthand?
Once he confirmed that, he immediately stopped daring to act rashly and began slowing down voluntarily from about 500 meters away.
By the time he drew close, No. 7's figure had slowed enough for ordinary people to see him directly.
Bringing a gust of air with him, he ran briskly up to the group, raised his windproof goggles, and introduced himself. "Hello, boss. I'm No. 7 of the Superpower Experimental Group."
Josen looked him up and down and found that No. 7 looked almost as though he had been cast from the same mold as Dr. Genus. His hair, however, had been changed to a neat buzz cut, presumably to reduce wind resistance.
Another difference was that the doctor's original body was relatively frail. Combined with his researcher's white lab coat, it gave him the air of a refined scholar.
No. 7 was much
