After hearing Xu Zhiqiu recount her experiences, Kagura fell silent.
Naraku lowered his eyes and said nothing.
"There's some wild fruit here too. Would you like to try some?" Xu Zhiqiu came over with the fruit.
"Thank you, Sister Qiu." Rin took two and handed one to Jaken.
"You're welcome." Xu Zhiqiu's lips curved slightly, and she noticed Naraku sitting on the blanket.
She stood up, walked over, and sat beside him. Taking hold of his arm, she whispered in his ear, "Don't think I don't know about you giving Sesshomaru an arm."
Naraku wrapped an arm around Xu Zhiqiu's waist and drew her into his embrace, murmuring, "Qiu, are you going to help an outsider settle scores with me?"
"If I wanted to settle scores with you, I would have done it already." Xu Zhiqiu's meaning was perfectly clear.
Only then did Naraku's gloomy expression ease. "Mm."
Seeing Xu Zhiqiu and Naraku being so intimate, Jaken felt as though the sight would give him a stye. He had never expected this. Never.
Kagura and Kanna remained composed. They had long since grown accustomed to scenes like this.
A little while later, Sesshomaru arrived.
"Rin. Jaken." Sesshomaru walked with an elegant stride, his cold face devoid of expression. Only when he called their names did he show a trace of warmth.
Seeing Sesshomaru arrive, Rin stood with her grilled fish and trotted toward him. "Lord Sesshomaru~"
"Lord Sesshomaru, you're finally here~~" Jaken picked up his Staff of Two Heads and trotted after Rin. Lord Sesshomaru had finally arrived. Heaven only knew how terrified he had been, sitting among Naraku's group.
Sesshomaru glanced toward Naraku, his gaze lingering for a second on Xu Zhiqiu leaning beside him before he looked away. "Let's go."
A true man never looked back.
