Chapter Summaries

After Yuramon evolved into DemiDevimon, malicious Bukamon abducted him while the DigiDestined slept. Gazimon learned that DemiDevimon was with human children and sent one of their number to alert King Etemon.

• Zhou Zhu persuaded Tai not to follow Izzy and the others, and the children rested in a Bukamon village that night.
• Agumon insisted he had smelled Koromon despite the village being full of Bukamon, while the Bukamon served the children food and entertainment.
• Yuramon evolved into DemiDevimon as T.K. fed him, and the children celebrated his evolution.
• Several Bukamon abducted DemiDevimon while the DigiDestined slept, then mocked him for evolving and being with the human children.
• Three Gazimon arrived, learned DemiDevimon was with humans, and locked him in an iron cage.
• The lead Gazimon left two others to keep watch and hurried off to report the news to King Etemon.

Etemon learned that the DigiDestined had landed at Bukamon village and set off alone to attack them. Meanwhile, Agumon followed Koromon’s scent to a hidden cave, where he discovered DemiDevimon imprisoned in an iron cage.

• Gazimon returned to Etemon’s base and reported that the DigiDestined were at Bukamon village instead of their expected landing site.
• Etemon abandoned his ambush plan and drove toward the village on his tanker, refusing Gazimon’s suggestion to bring more troops.
• Tai, Biyomon, and the others searched the village for the missing DemiDevimon while Bukamon gave them false information about where he might be.
• Agumon followed Koromon’s scent to a waterfall and entered a cave hidden behind it.
• Agumon found DemiDevimon locked in an iron cage, and DemiDevimon pleaded with him for help.

Agumon discovered DemiDevimon and the Koromon imprisoned beneath the waterfall, then fought two Gazimon while trying to free them. As Tai and the others investigated the strange mist and a lone Botamon, they began to suspect the Bukamon had deceived them.

• Agumon learned that the Bukamon had taken over the Koromon village and found DemiDevimon and the Koromon locked in cages beneath the waterfall.
• Two Gazimon attacked Agumon and said the DigiDestined were to be handed over to Etemon.
• Tai and the others worried about DemiDevimon’s disappearance, then noticed mist rising near the waterfall.
• Agumon attacked the waterfall with Pepper Breath, filling the area with steam as he fought the Gazimon.
• The Bukamon tried to stop Tai and the others from investigating, but Mimi found a Botamon and Tai recalled Agumon’s earlier suspicion about the village.

Tai rescued Agumon and DemiDevimon from the Gazimon, and Agumon digivolved into Greymon to defeat them. Etemon then attacked the village, and his Love Beam forced Garurumon and Greymon back into Rookie forms as Wisemon prepared to intervene.

• Tai reached the cave and used his Digivice to help Agumon digivolve into Greymon.
• Greymon blasted the two Gazimon into the river with Super Flame, and the children freed DemiDevimon and the Koromon.
• Etemon appeared with a sound system and threatened to destroy the village before bombarding it with Dark Spirit Ball.

The children realized Zhou Zhu and Wisemon were their best chance against Etemon, but Zhou Zhu first beat Matt for provoking him. Wisemon then attacked Etemon outside the cave, leaving the two Perfect Digimon poised to fight.

• Agumon lost his ability to use his power, and the children realized they could not face Etemon without evolving further.
• Matt and the others remembered that Zhou Zhu had Wisemon, a Perfect Digimon, but Matt angered Zhou Zhu by demanding help.
• Zhou Zhu beat Matt until Joe persuaded him to stop and focus on protecting Koromon village.
• Zhou Zhu shifted most of his attention into Wisemon and sent him out to fight Etemon.
• Wisemon caught Etemon by surprise with Storm Flame, knocking him down, then waited for him to get back up.

Wisemon confronted Etemon and defeated him in a fierce fight, then learned that Etemon had been monitoring the DigiDestined. Etemon revealed that he had received intelligence about them, leaving Wisemon questioning how he had learned their route so quickly.

• Wisemon challenged Etemon and countered his attacks with magic and greatsword strikes.
• Etemon tried to keep Wisemon at a distance with repeated Dark Spirit Balls, but Wisemon dodged them and struck him down.
• Wisemon told Etemon that he was the partner Digimon of one of the children Etemon was hunting.
• Etemon protested that his intelligence said the children's partners could only reach Champion level.
• Wisemon questioned why Etemon was targeting the DigiDestined and how he had learned their destination so quickly.

Tai found the Crest and it slotted into his Tag, but Agumon showed no sign of being able to evolve. Wisemon returned after driving Etemon off and urged everyone to leave before Etemon could pursue them.

• Wisemon threatened Etemon until Etemon used Monochromon and Dark Spirit Balls to escape into the desert sand.
• Tai found a Crest hidden in the cave wall, and it automatically slotted into his Tag.
• Joe wondered if the Crest would let Agumon evolve to Perfect, but Agumon said he only felt hungry.
• Zhou Zhu recognized Wisemon's armored footsteps and calmed the group as Wisemon approached.
• Wisemon said he had only driven Etemon off temporarily and told everyone to leave the area.

Tai tried to make Agumon digivolve by feeding him, while Joe’s Tag began flashing and led the group toward a huge arena. The children entered the arena as Etemon considered seeking help against Wisemon.

Joe and the others found his Crest beneath the soccer field after Zhou Zhu stopped them from leaving, and they continued across the desert. When the group noticed Zhou Zhu was not tired or sweating, he credited Dragon Country Kung Fu, prompting Izzy to wonder if Japanese Bushido could achieve the same effect.

• Zhou Zhu realized Etemon had stayed away because Wisemon had tested his strength, and he urged the others to search the field’s walls before leaving.
• Tai recalled finding his Crest in a wall, so Joe and the others searched again and found Joe’s Crest beneath the paving slabs by the goal.
• Joe celebrated that Gomamon could now digivolve to Perfect, and the children set off across the desert.
• Tai and Mimi noticed Zhou Zhu was not sweating despite the heat and long walk, and he attributed it to Dragon Country Kung Fu.
